Let’s talk about aggression…Meet Griffin a 3yr old GSD, who found his forever home during the Covid pandemic. As a puppy, socialization is very important and unfortunately in this case, you can see why. Really watching your dogs body language is very important!!! Griffin is only reacting out of fear, listen to his bark, watch him retreat, when I approach. At the end, he actually turns his head away, from the bite sleeve. This was taken 30 min after meeting, for the first time. He had more of a reaction with his mom, vs his dad, showing a little more protection as well.

🔥After your pup has all of its vaccinations, hit the streets, go to dog parks, Home Depot, TSC, Farm and Home, go down town, use the cross walks, be around other people, traffic, other dogs etc!!! This is all great socialization techniques,just mentioning a few…

Sometimes life has other plans, you had a puppy, now he’s full grown and wants to eat people. Well that never happened in this case, we took the right steps, at the right times, to insure his confidence was building, which was the key!!!🔥🔥🔥

There is no fault here, 😞 people stopped going places, started working from home, there was no socialization, affecting millions of pet owners, trying to do the right thing!!!

😎🤭😱 We are absolutely pleased to announce, that he has made it through his rehabilitation training and will be graduating soon!!! Stay tuned for more pics and videos of this guys progress, it’s an absolutely amazing transformation!!!

Everyone welcome Zhea, A 15 month old GSD. Her owners wanted to work on basic obedience, socialization and a few bad habits. This cutie was apprehensive at first, when I first met her, but quickly warmed up, once she figured out I had scooby snacks. Food to dogs will always be #1, let the pup meet you, don’t force the initial meet and greet on them, let them come to you. This may take a little coaxing, by dropping a treat next to you, closing the gap, then by letting the pup take it out of your hand. They slowly build the trust with you, don’t reach out to pet, baby steps, when they are shy and apprehensive. Refrain from petting their head, this can be a sensitive area for most pups and can cause the K-9 to react in an aggressive manner. Stick to behind the shoulder and back touches, stay away from the hind end, head and neck areas in the beginning, while building the rapport. Once this is established, hook up the leash and it’s off to the races and it’s training time. I look forward to seeing the transformation this young lady will go through, during this phase of training. GOD SPEED MY FRIENDS!!!🔥💯😜

This handsome young man was picked up near the pine river, adjacent to 220th ave and 22 mile rd, in Tustin Mi. He was seen at this location for a few days, he did jump right up into a vehicle with some coaxing, appears to be 9-10 months old. Everyone meet Buster, a 3 year old (unaltered) GSD!!!❤️🔥😜 I am actively searching for a foster home, for this young man. He’s quite the gentleman, loves long walks in the woods, campfires, soft music and animal planet on the big screen 😜💯🔥 He is potty trained, loves all animals, children and most of all, loves to cuddle on the couch if you allow it. The current owner, is in the process of finding a new home, that allows pets. This temporary placement “Foster” may be for a few months or sooner. This dude absolutely dominated this training exercise!!! At the beginning, non stop barking, like omg will it ever stop??? The answer to that is YES, when you don’t give in and give him what he wants. Be patient, have faith and remember BE THE PACK LEADER!!!🔥💯😜

Everyone meet Bullet, a 5 year old GSD that needed some help…This youngster proved within minutes of meeting him, that he has what it takes, to adapt, overcome and achieve the goals his owners wanted to instill…Bullet’s pray/ ball drive is absolutely insane, they learned to withhold the reward, make him earn it, versus just playing fetch. When the dog has access to a plethora of toys all just laying around the house, who owns the toys??? I’ll help you out, it’s not you, it’s him!!! This dude will do anything for a tennis ball, you use that to your advantage and make him earn it!!! He went from demanding you throw the ball by barking his head off, to waiting over a minute without a peep!!! You’re retraining his brain, it’s no longer his ball, it’s yours, If you want it, earn it!!! He also learned how to wait at the door, without bolting through, this was also rewarded with the ball, again make him earn it!!! Most of what I do, is training the humans, who in return train the dog!!! What an amazing training session, his anxious behavior has subsided, he now knows, he only gets attention and affection, when he is calm and submissive. The best part of my job, is seeing the smiling faces of the owners and them thanking me over and over, for seeing such amazing progress, in such a short period of time!!! What a ball of energy, he can play fetch for days, loves other animals, cats, kids, house broken and loves to snuggle…We are trying to find this gentleman a forever home, someone who can match his energy levels and man does he love to swim!!! I would say she earned some bed time from her buddy…She did absolutely amazing today with almost being 13 years old, running around keeping 80 1st graders at Mcbain Elementary entertained for a dog trainer demo. I don’t think she has ever had so many kids calling her name at once, she was definitely in high spirits today!!! I want to say thank you to Michele Beattie, a first grade teacher, who orchestrated this to happen. She was asleep in the back seat within min of leaving 🤣😊 she is Absolutely the sweetest ever!!! Angela Tyrpin, we will have to get pump and misty together and show off your girls talents, tricks and how she has mastered basic obedience, advanced and then some!!! Meet Willow a 2 year old AKC Poodle. She had 3 beautiful puppies the morning of the 18th. One female is spoken for the other female Zona and male Frank are available. They will be available the 10th of January 2022. Embark genetic testing has been done, all puppies had there dewclaws removed today and mom got a clean bill of health. Good Evening Everyone,
I want to apologize to anyone that we haven’t gotten back to or that we have been a little short with. Those are not our intentions and we should’ve updated a little sooner. Last Monday Jeff’s mom went into the hospital, yesterday we got married and today we said our final goodbyes to Jeff’s mom.
We will get back to everyone in a couple weeks after things settle down some.

********CERTIFIED SERVICE DOG********
Everyone meet Nightingale 😍 a 3yr old AKC registered Doberman. She is registered and certified through United Service Dog, as a service dog and has extensive on leash and off leash training. She has met and exceeded the qualifications needed, to become a Certified Service Animal. The ending certification process and evaluation was conducted by myself, a certified dog trainer, kennel master and train the trainer. United Service dog, was part of the validation process, which is what the client needed, because we were unavailable and not able to get her the certification paperwork from us. She is amazing with kids, cats and dogs, just not her brother, which is also a Doberman. She has had extensive socialization around other dogs, with zero issues, but unfortunately cannot cohabitate with another Doberman. She is UTD on all shots, she’s spayed, is extremely loyal and VERY well behaved. This will be an application process only, the only approved applicants will be disabled veterans only. We will ask that you fill out the applicable application, provide proof through the Department of Veterans Affairs of your service connected disability and that you qualify for a service dog. There will be a home inspection, you will have to have adequate space for a large breed dog and a re-homing fee, is being sought after. If anyone knows of a veteran that meets these parameters, have them contact us directly. Our contact information is listed above, message through this forum, txt or call. Another wagging tail welcome for Gertrude aka “Sq**rt”. Today she was introduced to the kayak, let’s just say Brooke Horton, I think you have your ride or die. She picked it up so quickly, it came natural to her. She took turns riding, swimming next to it and being the GSD tug boat Captain. After her time on the kayak, she went for a bike ride, a tired dog is a happy dog. If you have a dog with a high drive, that needs its physical needs met, this is what’s needed. Physical exercise is key with working dogs, if you can’t meet their physical needs, really rethink your decision when it comes to what kind of family pet do we want. Brooke does such an amazing job with both of her GSD’s, they are always on the go, she’s running them daily, she’s meeting their physical needs and that has made her rehabilitation that much easier...

Let’s give cooper a wagging tail welcome back, today was his first time on a kayak, let’s say he did extremely well. He took turns riding, swimming next to it and pulling us to shore. Before doing some kayak riding, he went for a long walk and a bike ride. Work smarter and not harder, get rid of that negative energy, before making a dog sit still and relax. Cooper has made tremendous progress, he is due to go home tomorrow...

Meet Gerturd aka “Sq**rt” a 3 year old GSD that is with us for rehabilitation. She’s had troubles in the past with aggression, mainly towards other dogs. She has since put that behind her, loves riding in the paddle boat and towing us back to shore. This is a great way to get rid of the negative energy, that has caused her so many issues in the past. After we got back from this training session, she was falling asleep sitting up, “doing the head nod”😂. A tired dog is a happy dog, if you have a working dog, remember exercise is the key, they need to be active, let them run, swim, play with other dogs and be social. Allowing them to be a dog, letting them run and play, is key for rehabilitation in most cases. She has come along way, we are so proud of the progress she has made. Also in the beginning, she was very reactive to smaller children, as she had been tormented by neighborhood kids growing up. She has also put that behind her and is absolutely amazing around our 3 boys ages, 9, 13 and 15. Sq**rt I can’t wait to see the smile on your moms face, when you go home, she’s going to be elated!!!

Meet Cooper a 1.5 year old Golden Retriever, it’s safe to say this boy loves the water!!! While swimming next to the boys on the paddle boat, he kept trying to take them back to shore, a behavior that I like to see, he’s taking charge, he’s feeling he has a purpose, he’s getting rid of that crazy puppy energy, SWIM COOPER SWIM!!!🔥💯😜

Here at Freedom Kennels and Training center, we take our rehabilitation process very seriously. The next few days, we will be bouncing back and forth with 2 troubled pups, both have anxiety issues, bark for no reason, need more socialization with other people and dogs. Not only do we train at our home, we also take your pups with us camping. Tomorrow is going to be lake day, one pup loves the water, the other has had little exposure. We will be doing some water training, even teaching them how to ride on a boat. We will let them swim to their hearts content, then do some water craft training. I can’t wait to get these dogs reunited with their owners and show them first hand, what a transformation their fur baby has gone through. That truly is the best part of what we do, some people shed tears of joy, seeing the progress we have made with their best friend. We want to thank everyone for being patient with us these last few weeks, as we have been extremely busy, I still have some return calls to make, so just know I haven’t forgotten about you.
