Dr. Troop spent time yesterday afternoon with the K9 officers of the Carbondale Police Department (Officer Brett Garden with Canine Partner Deacon, Officer Jeramie Stewart with Canine Partner Dongo, and Seth Moorman with Canine Partner Zara). He put on a training for the utilization of the K9 Trauma Kits provided by Tom Miller at Newsradio WJPF and the listeners who have contributed to their K9 Care Fund. The training included emergency medical treatment like controlling blood loss, the use of tourniquets, basic canine first aid, and the administration of Narcan.
Like the kits provided to the K9 officers of the Marion Police Department, these kits contain complete lifesaving medical supplies that include everything from wound care and an oxygen mask to a stretcher and Narcan.
If you would like to know more, or contribute to the K-9 Care Fund, contact Newsradio WJPF
