A special thank you to Petco for always hosting us and our amazing volunteers for spending time getting our dogs out of the shelter environment for a little while!

Two year old Naia is tired of having babies!! She came to us in October, heavily preggo with her third litter (that we know of). She actually gave birth here at MAHS, and was surrendered to us with a pup from a previous litter, along with the father.

Litter 1- One of our adoptable dogs named Wu-Tang is from this litter! He’s about a year old.

Litter 2- Four puppies, all had parvo. They were taken in by a rescue organization.

Litter 3- Nine puppies born here, all adopted!

Naia is ready to get a move on! She has lived with other dogs, and we are definitely open to doing meet and greets with kids and other dogs! She would do best in a home without cats.

Give Naia the fresh start she deserves! She is an angel and we love her very much!

MAHS is teaming up with the Marion County Ohio Dog Pound, Marion Public Health, and the Rascal Mobile Vet Clinic to provide low cost spay and neuter services for Marion city/county residents!

More details about the clinic and registration information will be available in the following weeks!

Anyone not participating in the spay and neuter services that would like to donate to help fund this event, can do so on our website at: https://mahspets.org/ways-to-give/ or donations may be mailed to or dropped off at MAHS!

Who has a kid-free home and a soft spot for seniors?! Mazie wants to meet you! Mazie is 10 1/2 years old. She came to us last May because she was not comfortable around the young kids in the home. She does not like to be grabbed and squeezed, and wants her personal space respected.

We wish we could tell you Mazie likes other animals, but she does NOT. We told her she’s making it difficult to find her an adopter, but she won’t budge!

If you can offer Mazie a home without kids and other animals, she will make it worth your while! She may be older, but she has plenty of fire left in her! 💞

The names that they have were given by our shelter staff.
If you are missing your cat and believe a cat in our care belongs to you, you must show proof of ownership to reclaim.

Upon arriving at our shelter, animals go through a 7-10 day holding period, then are put onto the adoption floor.

Attention Gentlemen!

This post is for you! Have you ever heard diamonds are a girls best friend? We beg to differ, a Ruby is so much better!

Ruby, a 5 year old husky lab mix prefers to be the one and only gem in your household, although she does enjoy having kids around. She has spent 19 weeks at MAHS and she would love to break out to be your valentine.

So, gentlemen bring your partners by to introduce them to this gem. She’s one of a kind. Ruby would do better in an active home where she can exercise and keep her mind occupied.

Don’t forget, we will be operating by APPOINTMENT ONLY today!

Due to the frigid temperatures, we are currently cleaning our kennels individually to make sure our dogs do not have to stay outside in this weather any longer than absolutely necessary! It takes us lots of time and all hands on deck type of teamwork to clean the building like this. We will always put the animals first to ensure their health, safety, and happiness!

January 17th is officially known as the Day is the animal welfare community. Betty’s famous love for animals has inspired many of us to pursue the same passion.

Somebody needs to adopt cutie pie Karen! Karen was surrendered to us last January. She has been adopted and returned twice, and has spent the majority of her young life in our shelter. Karen is about a year and half old, and still very much a puppy. She has been with us for about six months this go ‘round, and was returned because she was too much work for the adopter. We were told she was not house-trained, and had separation anxiety. We are confident that with the right home environment, Karen will grow into a fantastic companion.

Karen LOVES other dogs, and would thrive in a home where she has a playmate. She also seems to get along well with cats and children. Karen falls through the cracks and doesn’t stand out to adopters because she is very shy and takes some coaxing with new people. We promise she is wonderful and loving, and is worth the effort!
