We forgot to tell Judie that shelter dogs are supposed to be sad! Look at that smile! Judie was found curled up on a stranger’s porch, emaciated to the point where she could hardly walk. Luckily, the person who found Judie was able to take her to the vet and get her nursed back to health but was unable to keep her permanently. This is where you come in! Judie is looking for a comfy new home where she will never again have to worry about going hungry. Judie is a coonhound, estimated at eight years old. She seems to get along well with other dogs and would likely do well with gentle children. She does need a home without cats. Please come meet Judie! 🩵
What’s that lump on Judie’s neck, you ask? To our knowledge, it is a large skin tag!
Ozzy is a rambunctious one year old Aussie/Poodle mix. He has stubby little legs and the confidence of a gold medal Olympian. He is not comfortable around children and needs a home without them! He has been “dog selective” while at the shelter and gets along with certain dogs, and is picky about others. We were told he is housebroken, likes riding in cars, and needs lots of exercise. Please also keep in mind he will need regular grooming every 6-8 weeks! Ozzy is young and energetic and is going to be an awesome companion, he just needs to find the right person!
1,220 days. Kane has been a shelter dog for 1,220 days (off and on). Why has it taken Kane so long to find a home? Kane needs a home without other animals. He also gets mouthy/bitey when he’s excited and this is off-putting for many people. It is for this reason we would not feel comfortable placing him in a home with young children. Kane needs an adopter who isn’t afraid to put in some time and training and help him become the best version of himself. Now, let’s talk about all of the wonderful things about Kane. He LOVES teens and is best friends with one of our young volunteers. Kane would thrive in a loving family if given a chance. He walks well on a leash, minds his manners in the car, and loves to relax in the grass and hang out with his people. Kane is a GOOD dog, and after you accept his quirks, you’ll see how much love he has to give. Kane was originally surrendered to us because he ended up at the dog pound one too many times; his owner would not keep him properly confined. Fast forward nearly two years later, Kane was adopted, but came back a few months later severely underweight and lacking all confidence.Kane is now 6 years old. Our hearts hurt watching him spend his entire life in a kennel. He has NOT had a fair chance in life, but as long as he is willing to keep going, we are going to keep fighting for him. PLEASE share this post with anybody who is looking for a “one and only” pet. 💔

Momma cat needs foster home!
SURPRISE! Sweet momma Stripes welcomed 6 healthy kittens overnight! We are looking for a foster home for this little family.
*all fosters must be in Marion county*
Stabler James, 3 year old, male, Great Dane!
We don’t understand why Stabler hasn’t found a home yet!
He LOVES attention and hugs! Does great with children and likes other animals. He’s truly a gentle giant and he would love to find a home with a yard to hop around in.
He weights 120lbs so he needs a family who is prepared to let him take up a lot of room on the couch or bed! He recently went home for a sleepover with one of our volunteers and did amazing. He just wants to be around people and he loves being involved and feeing like part of the family! It doesn’t matter if you’re watching tv, doing housework, or out and about he would enjoy tagging along. He’s very much a companion dog… and he is ADORABLE.
His adoption fee is $200. That includes his neuter surgery, all up to date vaccinations, a heartworm test, flea/tick/heartworm prevention for the month, a round of dewormer, rabies shot, and his microchip.
Who needs some puppy love?! Anna, Elsa, and Kristoff are only 5-6 months old and have huge personalities. They’ve been here for a month already and we’d hate to see them grow up in a kennel!
Our sweet friend Jax is coming up on his one year mark at the shelter 💔. He needs a home without cats but would make a great addition to a family with older kids! He can be a little picky about other dogs but would likely do well with another active dog in the home to keep him entertained! Jax is quite literally growing up in a kennel and just needs someone to notice him and give him the love he craves.
As always, any kids or dogs in the home must come in for a meet and greet.
UPDATE: ADOPTED
We are losing Thor. Thor is one of the best dogs we’ve ever met and it is gut wrenching to watch him deteriorate in a kennel. Thor is truly fantastic. He is full of love and looks at you with so much soul and emotion. He is comforting to be around and has a confident, relaxed demeanor. Thor’s original family moved to Ohio from California and brought him along, knowing they’d have to give him up. They wanted him to have the best chance possible at finding a home. Thor was adopted by an awesome family for a short time, but had to come back to us. As much as he loves kids, he was struggling with the commotion and energy in the home.
Thor needs a home without other animals.
Thor would be a wonderful match for retirees, empty nesters, or a family without young kids, though respectful older kids/teens would be fine! He needs a quiet home where he can relax and unwind from the chaos of the shelter. Thor loves to cuddle and play, and we would love to find him a home to spend his golden years in.
Thor is 7 years old, housetrained, easy to walk on a leash, and has excellent house manners.
Someone needs to adopt this hooligan immediately! Jax turned 1 back in June and has been here for 244 days, HOW?! He is a wild man who just wants to run and play, and be the puppy he never got the chance to be! He isn’t very big, probably 40lbs. He would do well in a home with older kids and other active dogs to play with! Cats are his mortal enemies and he will need a home without them. He’s an entertaining little fella and his fur is SOFT!
