Finn, the 3 year old American Pit Bull and his sister, Ember, the 2 year old German Shorthaired Pointer, have just come to the end of a a wonderful 6 day vacay! โ๏ธ
Finn and Ember have had a great time at Hill Top, running and playing together for ages out in the pasture together. Ember the GSP is so fast with her long legs, she is like a gazelle! ๐ฆ It was so fun to watch her and Finn chase each other and sometimes wrestle even, because she is so tall and slim, and he is so short and stocky ๐
Finn is fast for a guy with little legs! He fell in love with a yellow ball that he rolled around in the grass with, and anytime his sister Ember snuck up to get it, he was on high alert to chase her away! ๐โโ๏ธ
We could really tell how much Finn and Ember love each other, it's adorable ๐ค

Once Brandi decided she could trust us with her ball, she LOVED playing fetch out in the pasture. In fact, so much so, we had to be the ones to say okay I think maybe itโs time to rest now Brandi!! She is a wonderful lady and weโre so pleased that she felt comfortable here and enjoyed her stay! ๐

This sweet girl is Scout, a 1 year old Irish Terrier, who has been at Hill Top for the past week and a half ๐
Scout has had an amazing time and LOVES her playtime out in the pasture. She's a ball of joy and liveliness, and is like the energizer bunny! ๐ฐ
Much like a bunny too, Scout hops a lot because her front leg is a birth defect, so it's a bit shorter than her other legs. Her paw pads didnโt fully develop either, and some of the bones in her paws and wrist fused together as well. Sheโs always in good spirits despite this - that little lucky paw of hers does not stand in her way at all! ๐
Moral of the story: Be more like Scout ๐ค

Raven is a very curious 2 year old mixed breed and she investigated the whole pasture with her nose, making sure nothing was left un-sniffed, then sat next to us for some pets in the shade under the pine trees ๐ฒ
Itโs thought that the part of the dogโs brain that analyses smell is 40 times larger than ours โ and if you compare our 5 million scent receptors to a Bloodhound's 300 million, you can see that our noses are pretty measly in comparison! ๐ฑ
Scent is incredibly important to dogs โ as much as, if not more than, sight and sound โ and it tells them far more about their environment than we can ever begin to imagine. When they sniff the grass or a bit of fence, they can tell who has been there and when, if they know them, whether they were male or female, entire or neutered, how old, what mood they were inโฆ All from a single sniff ๐คฏ
