✨️Some little...bitty...cuties just hatched last night!! 💕 We are trying to increase our current flock after having some losses over the winter. We hope to be back to the in June🤞
In the meantime, we hope you all enjoy the Farmer's Market starting today!!!

🌱Happy Spring Equinox!!! You know what that means....the girls are gonna start laying!!🎉 We had some losses over the winter, so we will be trying to increase the flock again this Spring. But we are hopeful, excited, and looking forward to a productive season!

🐝The plum tree is close to full bloom, so now we cross fingers that we don't get a freeze. It's happened a few times, often on our daughter's bday the 15th, there is a last snow before spring.
In the meantime, we enjoy hearing the buzz around the tree and watching the busy bees. ❤️

⛅️Getting a little break in the rain and everyone is out enjoying it. The cats are chillin in the sun, the sheep are munching away, Sugar is investigating her tunnel she dug under that old fallen oak, while Mocha climbs around on top. Even the honeybees are here desperately trying to feed and hold on to the rosemary flowers, as the cold wind blows in the new storm for later today.

👋Just wanted to introduce you to our Java chickens. This is our hen named Birchy (as in Birch tree, son named her). Our other hens pick on her so we needed to isolate her. Today she got to have some inside time with my son feeding her some bits of bread. She is so sweet and gentle. ❤️
Would you believe they all started laying in January, pretty awesome, this old time breed is known for laying year round once they get going.
No, we won't be selling their eggs (but maybe some chicks at some point). We are actually using the chickens in a chicken tractor in-between the orchard rows in an attempt to keep down the weeds and pests. Pics of that to come in the future. 😊

✨️We are happy to announce one more layer to our Organic Certification....we are now officially certified by The Real Organic Project as well!!
These folks work hard to help Organic truly mean what you believe it to...they ensure that the animals we have at the farm are held to a healthy and happy standard. They also ensure healthy soils are giving life to healthy foods. Nothing but confirmed goodness here at

🦋 Wow!! Feel SO lucky today, we had this beautiful Monarch butterfly visiting our rosemary bushes. This is a perfect reminder of why you DON'T use chemical pesticides or herbicides people. I KNOW that Monarch butterfly is still going to live after eating at our farm. 🧡🧡🧡

👎Well, we will not be at the Mariposa Farmer's Market this week folks. Boo.👎

🗓 Most years we start to see a slow down in egg production at the end of August, but not a total shut down. ☹️ That storm must have really thrown their internal clocks off. Hoping this is not the end of the season, but it is possible.
We could force the laying by adding artificial lighting, but we like to let our animals take a break if and when they need to. Are we disappointed, yes, but that is what eating with the seasons and organically is all about. 💚

Even though you were a weak storm when you got here, you still gave us significant cloud cover for a few days.
Well that made our Quail girls stop laying. Hopefully they are gonna get back to it now that we will be all clear and warming up again. 🤞

🤞Hoping to bring some of these and more to you all by the end of August. But keep your fingers crossed for us, we are at war with grasshoppers right now that are trying to eat all the fruit tree leaves. ☹️

🌱The Quail have been really happy with the new grass and plants in their planter (they love to fling around the dirt).
🌥 But unfortunately with this cloud cover we are having lately, the girls haven't been laying eggs as much. So sadly, we will not be at the Mariposa Farmer's Market tomorrow. Hoping to see you all on the 14th!

Black Locust Winter really happened here about a week and a half ago. We had really cool temps day and night right before our pink Black Locust trees bloomed. (Needed 🌞 for pics though)
Our white ones (last pic) always bloom later, so they don't count. 😉

🌟 Also, we won't be able to bring quail eggs to the Mariposa Farmer's Market this week do to some previous orders. We will see you all on the following Wednesday, May 24th. 😊
