Proofing our hiking skills today. "Over" = move off to the side of the trail. We're working on an auto down following the over cue but right now still cueing "down" and "wait." I'm looking for holding the behavior. Total rock star🀩 is with total calmness while I do weird stuff passing by. Still πŸ˜€ is neutral feelings. How do you think they're doing?

Things that make me happy. Do you have ? about the πŸ’©? I am VERY happy about solid p**p out of a dog that has rarely had a solid poo in his life. The Glimmer Dog Program focuses on the whole dog and happy dogs and solid behavior starts on the inside. GI health matters, nutrition matters, we look at it all. Glimmer Dogs are happy dogs that succeed in life with their families. It takes time and it takes digging into all areas of both the human and dogs' lives.

We've started a thing on Thursday mornings -- all the Glimmer Dogs and their parents who are ready gather for a hike. It's my new most favoritest thing. Yes, that's a word - look it up.πŸ˜‚β€

Full Day Forrest School Fun! Thanks to our wonderful pool hosts, Cali and Archie (and their parents). We had a blast at Forrest School in the morning, had a nice nap to recharge, and headed to the pool for the afternoon. What a day!

The newest Glimmer Dogs are really coming along! Getting their needs met outside of Forrest School time makes all the difference and they're able to really progress in their skills. Just got back from a hike with Odin and his dad and he's about ready to come off his drag line! I mostly took nosework videos but we did so much more. Great job pups (and parents)!

I'm so happy to celebrate what this fun win at nosework class at Tails U Win in CT represents for Mary and Eva. Eva was my first really, really challenging personal dog and the inspiration behind the Glimmer Dog Program. Her new family, Mary and Barry, have worked so hard to give her the life she was meant to live in a single dog home. She has many other challenges besides living with other dogs and nosework class has been part of the team and relationship building process. So proud of this team!

These dogs have been with Glimmer Dog for a while. They are having their needs met regularly, both through Forrest School and by their parents on the other days. They've learned a lot of skills. Now they can get out into the world in a bigger way and learn to be confident in places that might not be the most natural to them. But for dogs that love to be with us and check things out, being able to accompany us during our day to day life can be really enjoyable and enriching for both us and our pups. If you think this is never something your dog could do, maybe it doesn't have to just be an impossible dream anymore. . .

I love starting my weekend with a peaceful hike before the trails get crowded. This Saturday, I got my niece (dog) for some extra time with her parents ran some errands so she helped me pick up our CSA veggies at the fabulous Small Farm. Then we checked out a new (to us) trail recommended by a client. It's great! We also got Coco's Baskerville muzzle heat fit to her. It was a little narrow and now it's super comfy. I want all my Glimmer Dogs to be super comfy wearing a muzzle (aka treat basket). You never know when they might need it (we can't predict a veterinary emergency). Dogs that already know how to wear a muzzle have one less thing to be stressed about if something ouchy and unexpected happens. Dog training for your real life means we actually train for those real life situations that come up -- sometimes often, sometimes rarely.
