AMC is excited to announce that we now offer after-hours emergency triage for our patients through VetTriage video telehealth services!

VetTriage veterinarians provide the same quality care as during regular hours, helping you determine if your pet needs immediate emergency care or if they can be safely monitored at home with their guidance. If urgent care is needed, they’ll help coordinate your visit to the nearest emergency hospital.

Can you spot the stick? Check out the second photo to see what our pal Sky was dealing with.

Would your dog let you open their mouth to look for foreign objects? How about pulling back their tongue or lips to check on their teeth and gums? If not, now is a good time to develop a Fear Free training plan to gradually decrease the stress your pet feels during oral exams.

Not sure where to start? Come see us! We can offer pointers or suggest animal behaviorists in the area, depending on your pet’s needs. There’s no need to be embarrassed if your dog can benefit from some training - some of our favorite patients are feisty, skittish, or have questionable manners. We encourage growth and will be happy to help you along the way.

Bug is ready for the chilly weather! Is your pet prepared? Remember, if it feels cold outside to you, it’s probably cold for your pet, too. Here are a couple of winter weather tips:

❄️ Salt for roads and sidewalks can irritate the skin and should not be ingested. Many stores in town carry pet safe salt for home use.

❄️ Paw care in cold weather can also include booties and/or paw balm to soothe dry skin. If you notice cracked, itchy, or broken skin on your pet’s paw pads, please call us for a checkup.

Have a great weekend!

Sometimes we all need a peaceful moment to reflect, refresh, and care for ourselves. Veterinary medicine is a wonderful field, but it comes with some challenges. Some appointments may be all tail wags and treats while others can be more serious. Vet med, healthcare, and other service professionals, we want to encourage you to take good care of yourselves. This also applies to anyone in any field who needs a reminder to pause for a moment of peace.

For an inside look at some of the more challenging issues in this field, check out the documentary link below:
