A note from Dr. Olivier:
The craziest thing happened the other day. I looked in the mirror and realized I got old! How can this be? I rubbed my new cataract-free eyes and looked again. Sure enough, was old. I turned and looked at my license to practice veterinary medicine hanging up on the wall and noticed it had yellowed. Oh my! I whipped out my phone calculator and did the math. I've been practicing for 41 years. I founded Acadiana West over 35 years ago. When I started, I had a beeper. Does anyone remember those? You could clip them on your belt, and they only seemed to go off in church or in a quiet, crowded elevator. My first cell phone was in a little black briefcase and had a cord connected to the receiver. Yes, you read that right. I believe my beginnings are called "the olden days." Unless you think I graduated from veterinary school when I was four you know where this is going, right? I have served this community through the years, decades even. Now my heart tells me it's time to thank the good Lord, who has blessed me richly, and serve Him. It has been such a good ride, such an honor to have cared for you and your pets for three generations. I will surely miss it, but this old broad needs a rest! Good grief, in dog years I'm dead. Thank you from the very bottom of my heart for the trust you have placed in me all these years. I hope I have served you well.
I will be retiring at the end of September. With any luck, I will fill in for my associates when they need time off. If the good Lord's willing and the creek don't rise (after all, I live near the Tchefuncte river now) I will see you then. Take care.
