Hereâs to more love, new beginnings, and precious moments ahead! đžâ¤ď¸
Itâs so nice to see just how many friendly dogs come through our shelter. We often have so many sweet pups who are great with other dogs and just looking for a good home.

Sumo is ready for the weekend⌠are you?? Sumo is one of the first group of dogs available for adoption post #HurricaneHelene - heâs waiting to meet you!
The month after the #hurricanehelene flooding in our rural mountain community has felt more like a year. So many tears have been shed for the displaced residents and their animals as well as the strays that have come in needing a safe place to land. This sweet mama dog came in as a stray two days ago, heavily pregnant, and today she gave birth to 8 puppies in the space that she felt most comfortable in. Having been an outdoor dog - she was stressed indoors in our shelter kennels, so we assembled an outdoor âbirthing suiteâ where she chose to dig a hole which was her natural instinct to labor and deliver these sweet pups today. Behind the scenes is the male pyrenees she came in who she is extremely bonded to who was able to safely be by her side in an adjoining kennel. Our staff and volunteers tended to them throughout the day to make sure everything continued to go smoothly and they are resting peacefully tonight in a safe place with their pups. Knowing that this sweet family had a safe place to be during this time is a little bit of light we all needed to end the week â¤ď¸
Sunday morning transport of 3 dogs, 2 puppies and 6 cats to Humane Society of Charlotte - thanks to four volunteers generously donating their time and vehicles for this lifesaving trip! These #HurricaneHelene affected animals headed down the mountain to their new lives today thanks to BISSELL Pet Foundation!
Blue Ridge Veterinary Imaging generously donated their time and supplies to provide medical care for 70 animals today in #HurricaneHelene affected area at Spring Creek Community Center!
The animals in need are coming in and our small capacity shelter is overwhelmed - we will continue to need rescues to get dogs and cats from us for the next few weeks and beyond and fosters to hold animals until they can be transported out. We also need strong organizers to organize pieces of our new operations - which now includes urgent medical care for owned animals and coordinating volunteer vets and techs and bringing in medical supplies, coordinating rescue organization communication and small transfers out via volunteer drivers, pet food and supply distribution, and field outreach to check on animals left behind. Our small staff has shown up every day since day one and we are pulling long days to meet this communityâs urgent animal needs but we need your help! Phone lines are still down so best way to get in touch with us is here on fb messenger or via email at [email protected]. This is just the beginning of a long haul â¤ď¸
