Now that fall/winter is here, it is time to be doing lawn maintenance we have put off due to weather or to get everyone out riding! We've loved seeing more wildflowers and wildlife in the past two years than we ever have but we're ready to see spring and summer iris blooms! Iris in Karmaland (and Daylilies, too) should be back up this spring now that Vickie is able to walk again and our helpers have started getting the gardens cleaned up. This winter we will be cutting the pasture to make way for the wildflower blooms and to make headway for replenishing the natural horticulture.

Farm tours will be available after the New Year by appointment for the cost of a donation to Colonial Spanish Sport Pony Club . We have Bankers, Choctaws, Belsky, Johnson-Yates, Grand Canyon, Book Cliffs, and many more bloodlines, big and small, represented within our herd.

We will have gift cards available for trail rides or lessons for anyone doing some last minute gift shopping. Lessons purchased in multiples of 5 or more will be discounted!

We are looking for volunteers! For anyone looking to do riding lessons but find costs to be prohibitive, we have projects that would be suitable for ages 12 and over and we will give riding lessons or trail rides in exchange. We mainly need help with w**ding the gardens and yard.

Message us and we will get something worked out. Acceptance of a volunteer is at our discretion. Excessive electronic device usage won't be tolerated.

******This is not a request for teen riders to train or ride our horses. This ruins their amateur status for showing and we have a trainer.

Do you know a child who is in need of an extra special Christmas? Maybe a child whose family is struggling or they're having a hard time fitting in? Colonial Spanish Sport Pony Club is fundraising to sponsor children to come ride around the holidays. So far there are 3 sponsored with fundraising for more in the works. If you scroll back to the Bonfire link it has club or farm tshirts with proceeds that will go towards this project.

Friday the 29th we have a 1:30 trail ride for 2 hours with 3 spots remaining and a 4pm 1 hour ride with up to 5 spots remaining.

Saturday the 30th there is a 1:30pm ride for 1 hour available or a 3:30 2 hour ride with 6 spots remaining.

What a great ride we had this afternoon! Nice breeze, comfy temps and just a little nip to the air. Who would believe it was late Nov.! Join a great family plus Homey and I as we spent 2 hours with these nice folks seeing the sights of fall at Karma Farms
Remember if you are a more experienced rider or just a good sport who loves time in the saddle: the first hour is only $50 but the second hour is the real buy at only $15 more. If you like riding, book your 2 hour ride before it decides to get cold.
I think Homey and I had as much fun as my riders today.

We have been frequently asked about doing tshirts for the farm, so if anyone has been looking and wants some stocking stuffers or souvenirs in their preferred colors and sizes, here's your chance!

Cynthia has started a non-profit and has opened up an online shop to help fund it. Funds will be helping establish scholarship and awards programs for Colonial Spanish Sport Pony Club!

Scholarship applications will open up at the beginning of the year as well as their show team trials.

Glitter and Gold as a coming three year old stallion. He has grown and developed a lot since these shots. This is a very well bred c**t, now being started under saddle. Come enjoy the fall colors with us! We hear there's a fall break for some area schools this week and this would be a great time to get some riding in! Weather is supposed to be 70s-80s through the next week so we have availability for trail rides and lessons to start between 1:30pm and 5pm. 2 hour rides by request. We take all riders 3 and over. Our maximum weight is 250 and children under 5 may ride double with an adult if they are less than 250 # combined.

He is rapidly showing his dam's strong appaloosa color gene as he adds white spots on body and hips and mottled skin on his nose.

Congratulations to Rhythm of My Heart who quickly found the special home for which we were hoping. Thanks to all who inquired. He and his new boss just clicked, and they looked so well together. Thanks to all of you who texted and called. He ended up close enough that we can visit anytime. I love happy endings.

This video is a recent family group crossing Cooper Creek as we finish their trail ride. We had such a fun ride with the cool breezes now and then, promising fall.

I love the way the lady goes up quietly on Astral, balancing her little rider. Then comes the gentleman on Condor, trotting down and using correct climb position on his first ride for years. Glad they had fun!

Rhythm of My Heart is for sale. This gorgeous little red dun is extremely well bred,. He is a son of Margarita, she by Broom out of Pie. He was sired by Locomotion, a fine gaited stallion by the great Choctaw Sun Dance and out of Easter Lily, a good mare by Trail Blazer out of Lily Hawk.

"Rhythm" is a 3/4:brother to Tommi's greatest champion Fernando, a kid horse deluxe who won everything she that she tried: shows, games and distance riding."Ferdie" remains one of the winningest horses ever bred by Karma Farms.

Rhythm, a beautiful little gelding, was bred to replace Ferdie for my daughter Tommi, but she never felt that he was the horse for her by the time Rhythm was old enough to break. She had bred a fine young mare out of her 2nd champion, a gorgeous dun mare named Meet Virginia that, like Ferdie, won in everything Tommi loved when Tommi was a teen. Virgie's filly was her choice for her next winner. That mare was well-broke when Tommi and our friend Charles Mayo decided to train her to pull a cart as well as work under saddle. Rhythm was left just enjoying the pasture. He was ridden now and then by my students that wanted to learn to train.

Today it dawned on me that we were wasting a very fine little horse. Rhythm is now 18 years old and well started under saddle. He was ridden by my students three summers in horse training clinics and excelled.

After years of doing nothing, last month we needed an extra horse and caught him for our neighbor Danielle Mauldin. He had not been ridden in years but was steady and solid for Dani. He did great even though he had not been ridden in years. I noticed that over time, his early desire to move out had changed to "Let's just walk, okay?"

Dani said he was smooth and willing, but had to be pushed to even trot. Suddenly I realized with just a bit more riding, this guy would be a great kid or lady's horse. He is sound, pretty and healthy. With just a bit more riding, I think he can be a good child's mount for years. We are only asking $850 as he is now older.

If you need one ready to do things at a great price, call to set up a visit to meet and try this beautiful little gelding. At that price, the buyer should pay for his Coggins, but we will guarantee it to be negative and haul him to our vet in Vivian, La. where he can also be microchipped if the buyer would like to have him protected at a very reasonable price (much less expensive than here in Texas) because Louisiana requires a chip when a horse is first Coggins tested.

We will get him up and shoot some video of Rhythm working on a long line, being ridden and loading in a trailer. I will be posting those here on the Karma Farms page on Facebook.

Sunset Ride! 5:30 pm tomorrow! 10 horses available. Condor, Brielle, Daisy, Love, Dani and all the rest offer a chance to say goodbye to lingering summer temps as autumn cools the evening. Predicted weather 94° at 6 pm dropping to 84° at 8. Cost: 2 hours for $65, ages 8 to adult. No double riders.

Call for reservations tonight or in the morning before 11 am. No drive-ups.
Don't come early as Cyn will be getting your horses ready. When I come out at 5:30, we will do a quick briefing. Then you can take a minute to try out your horse as we coach. Should be on the trail by 6:00 pm.
