Finishing off my 100 flies for the Tie A Thon today. They along with about 30,000 more will go to groups that incorporate fly fishing as part of their programs working with women battling breast cancer, kids in foster care and people working to recover their lives. It’s a great way to kick off the season.

Good morning!

I visited one of the first ponds we built this morning. It just needed a little trimming before the family comes in for the weekend. Over time most of my customers have become friends. It’s worked out pretty well.

Just a little sunshine and things start to wake up.

This time of year it’s mostly planning for spring and summer projects and events, a few aquariums and an occasional trip to Rice Creek or Kalamazoo River to check on the locals. The days are getting longer and it looks like winter is breaking. Enjoy every season.

Now that fall and Holiday activities have settled down, it’s time for simpler things on a smaller scale.

A beautiful fall pushed the season into December but all the ponds are tucked in now just waiting for Spring.

It about time to put our water gardens to bed for the winter. Cut back your plants including water lilies. Clean and store your waterfall pumps and filters in a warm place. Cover your pond to keep the leaves out. Prepare some type an aeration system to keep a vent in the ice through the winter so gasses can escape. You don’t need to run your aerator until ice starts to form in the surface.

It’s been a great summer. The leaves are showing color and starting to fall. I hope you take the time to enjoy the new season.
