Our trainers are home from Florida to teach for two weekends in February, and their schedules are filling fast! Northern VA - We have room for a summer working student. This unpaid position includes full training board, housing and a comprehensive education in dressage and horse management at the highest level. We’re happy to work with your school to arrange internship credit.

Applicants must have dressage experience at or above second level, have an independent seat and a solid understanding of connection, and play nicely with others. No pets, no partners, and no whining 🙃 We’re a fun, high energy atmosphere filled with cool people who use their words.

We could also take a paid working student for a longer stay.

WE'RE OPEN IN VIRGINIA THIS WINTER! And we've got space for full training horses both in our Marshall, VA and Loxahatchee, FL locations.

We'll be staying open in Virginia and keeping our horses and riders going with virtual lessons. The technology is super-simple to use and our internet speed makes connectivity a breeze. Take advantage of our amazing winter amenities, like heated grooming bays and wash stalls, all-weather turnout for even the ickiest of days, and our oversized indoor with dust-free footing so you'll never miss a day of riding.

In Florida, we have ONE stall left for someone looking to have some fun in the sun. Our amazing southern location offers ample turnout, terrific hacking and a covered arena.

One of our employees has sustained a minor injury that's going to keep her off her feet another week or two, and we'd love some stall cleaning and chore help mornings from roughly 6a-11a, and/or help with night turnout 6ish-7ish p, though there's wiggle room in that. We are no longer allowing video or photography at our farm except by designated rider’s representative, and we will no longer allow anyone to post photo or video from our farm on social media without written permission from head trainer Lauren Sprieser.

Why? We are correct and compassionate trainers of horses and riders. We are proud of the training and instruction we offer here. We are proud of our consistent production of happy sound horses with long careers, and we have nothing to hide. But we are also deeply distressed by a trend towards vile and disgusting harassment online. The misinformation out there about dressage and horse training in general, the painting of an entire sport with the brush of a few bad actors, and a disgusting lack of humanity from social media commenters have us, frankly, pretty freaked out.

We’ve received many, many ludicrous and hateful comments, messages and emails over totally banal photographs on social media (like the Concerned Citizen who wanted us to know we could cause our horses to drown on their own saliva because we use nosebands. Yep.) We’ve seen other riders dragged through the mud over brief moments of imperfection. And while yes, we believe real honest-to-God horse abuse must be identified and punished, the mob mentality of the largely uninformed internet public is a disservice to animal welfare and to sport, and we simply refuse to participate.

We are proud of how we train and manage our horses, and our doors are always open (by appointment, please, not because we feel we have anything to hide, but just because we’d prefer random strangers not turn up unannounced) to watch how we create happy athletes at the highest levels of sport. We are also only human, and the internet has become lawless and spiteful. So out of respect for the privacy and sanity of our customers, our horses and our staff, we are changing our rules. We appreciate your understanding.

Next weekend, September 14-15, we're delighted to welcome noted biomechanics expert Suzanne Galdun of Positively Dressage! Suzanne is one of 9 accredited "Ride With Your Mind" instructors, and has worked with Mary Wanless personally since 2013. With an incredible eye for detail, Suzanne works to bring riders to a new level of awareness and understanding of what they are actually doing in the saddle, and how to communicate more clearly to the horse. Her lessons include creative language and hands-on resistances as well as open dialogue between coach and rider. To the casual observer, these lessons don’t sound like a typical dressage lesson, but the change in horse and rider is clear to see. It is Suzanne’s mission to be a positive influence on horse and rider, no matter their age, level, condition, or goals. Everyone wants to ride better, and indeed, with the right help, everyone can.

Suzanne is a regular fixture at Sprieser Sporthorse, and we have all been blown away by how accessible her information is. Suzanne is equally helpful to our upper-level riders as to our beginners, and all in between, and auditing is worth every penny for the experience. She's truly the best clinician we've ever had!

Auditing is available for this event at $35/day on Strider (includes lunch), or $40/day at the door (no lunch). Auditing pre-registration will close Sunday the 8th.
