Good morning, everyone! Spring is upon us! And with that comes a very busy time for me! I’ve also recently lost my sister to cancer😞 and I was gone for a couple weeks so had to push several appointments back. I also am now having knee surgery. Thankfully that is just a minor outpatient procedure but I will still have to take a few days off and take it easy for a while. Good news is I now have another groomer working with me!! Her name is Charlene Garcia! She is only working 1-2 days a week right now but it has been such a big help! So if I can’t get you in as soon as you want please feel free to reach out to Charlene😊 she is AMAZING! The Heart of Iowa Kennel Club will present a very special program on Monday, March 6 at 7:00 PM at the Family Pet Center in Marshalltown. It will be a visit from a Service Dog in Training named Hero and his handler from the Puppy Jake Foundation. The Puppy Jake Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping military veterans through the assistance of well bred, socialized and professionally trained service dogs. They select, train and place their service dogs with brave wounded warriors. Puppy Jake Foundation also provides resources for the advocacy, awareness and acceptability in public for those that require the assistance of a service dog. thanks, Shelley Barron President, HIKC 641-752-2458

This is what I want to read to every customer that comes in. I do except cards but would prefer cash or check!!😁 I started taking card for my clients convenience NOT MINE!

Please understand what NOT using cash is doing. Why should we pay with cash instead of a card?!

- Imagine I have a $50 bill in my pocket. I go to a restaurant and pay for dinner with it. The restaurant owner then uses the bill to pay for the laundry, the laundry owner then uses the bill to pay his barber, and the barber uses the bill for shopping. After an unlimited number of payments, it will still remain $50, which has fulfilled its purpose to everyone who used it for payment and the bank is left dry from every cash payment transaction made...

- If I go to a restaurant and pay digitally - with a card, the bank fees for my payment transaction charged to the seller are 3%, so around $1.50 and the same $1.50 fee charged for each further payment transaction afterwards (owner to laundry shop, barber etc.) Therefore, after 30 transactions, the initial $50 will remain only $5 and the remaining $45 became the property of the bank thanks to all the digital transactions and fees.

When this is put into perspective, imagine what each retailer is paying on a monthly basis in fees at 3% per transaction through their machines. If they have, for example, $50,000 in sales and 90% are by Card, they are paying $1500 in fees in ONE Month. $18,000 in a year.

Especially use cash when paying your hairdresser, massage therapist, small business owners, etc. They rarely charge a card processing fee, yet they pay high fees to the card companies.

This is concerning double coated dogs Collies, Australian Shepard, German Shepard, Golden Retriever etc. However there are times when the coat may be in such bad condition that shaving is necessary but should only be done in extreme case’s in my opinion ☺️
