Thankyou for your interest in South Timber Creek Ranch.

Our equine therapy program is focused on working with individuals both children and adults with mental health issues. These mental health issues can be anything from ADHD, ANXIETY, DEPRESSION, AUTISM AND DOWN SYNDROME and others.

The most important part of the equine program is to help the individuals bond with their horse. Once this bonding occurs than trust ensures and real growth occurs. Horses have a unique empathy to understand humans and their needs.

Part's of the equine therapy program is bonding, trust, making connections, as you learn to ride. Equine therapy occurs during ground work such as brushing the horse, leading the horse and also while you ride the horse and learning to care for the horse.

Individuals learn confidence, self advocacy, determination as well as gentleness and kindness all the time while working with their horses.

In addition, I hold a masters degree in special education and am certified in Equine Therapy. I also have over 25 years of public school teaching experience where I worked with at-risk and drop out youth and special education students at the high school level.

We can not accept insurance payments but we try very hard to keep our equine therapy sessions affordable for families. Most places in Iowa charge $150 plus per session. At South Timber Creek Ranch we offer an hour session for $50.00. We recommend weekly sessions as that is how true change occurs but will work with families on scheduling sessions.

We still have ROOM. Don't let this opportunity get away from you!!!

Have you wanted to learn to ride but didn't want to do it alone? Are you looking for something unique that you and your significant other could do together? Are you tired of the winter blues and want to get outside and be ready for spring g and summer? I HAVE AN IDEA FOR YOU!!!!
We are thinking about having an adult beginners Riding group. We would meet once a week for 6 weeks for 90 minutes. This would start March 29 to May 3rd. This is every Saturday. The 1st session is from 1:30 to 3:00 and the 2nd session is 3:00 to 4:30. We do have an inside arena, and outside arena and 60 acres to ride on. There would be 2 to 3 instructors for every class time and the class would only have 6 riders. So spqce is limited. The cost for this would normally be $360 but as a group we would discount this to $300. Regular riding lessons are $40 per lesson and lessons are 60 min. You would be getting a 90 minute lesson for $33. This is a GREAT deal. Half would need to be paid at time of registration and the other half would be due at the 1st lesson. Again this is for adults only 18 years or older. What a wonderful way to spend with your significant other.

1. How to groom your horse.
2. Horse Safety
3. How to tack and untack your horse
4. Mount and unmount safely
4. Walk, trot your horse
5. Trail ride Safety
6. Health care and first aid for your horse
7. Horse Language... Know how to communicate with your horse.
8. Learn how to be a team with your horse.

Mikenzie had her 1st Horse Show today. I couldn't be prouder of Kenz... she has grown into a responsible hardworking young woman with goals that she is striving towards. She entered 6 events. 1. Jackpot Western Walk/Trot placed 2nd. 2. Western Walk/Trot placed 3rd 3. Western Pleasure placed 1st. 4. Ranch Rail Walk/Trot placed 3rd 5. Ranch Rail Pleasure placed 3rd. 5. Pole Bending placed 1st. Today was the 1st time she did Pole Bending and she had a blast!!!! I've enclosed her video if the poles. She will only get better!!!!
