Haydays Tidy Whities
2023 APHA C**t

River had a great first year of showing with the Wisconsin Ranch Horse Association! This was my second year showing and I’m extremely proud of how Riv progressed throughout the season. Can’t wait for 2yo In Hand Trail next year with him 😍😊

My fave pics by from each show below!
May, June, August, September
Jaclyn Hill Photography ALWAYS gets gorgeous shots! My personal fave is the May pic where Riv’s tongue is out 😝

This weekend, I had the pleasure of bringing Wyatt and River to the Wisconsin Ranch Horse Association show in Elkhorn, WI! I couldn’t be prouder of both boys and the incredible weekend we had.

🔵Ultimate Gunslinger (Wyatt), 2yo ApHC Gelding🔵
* 🏅4th, 🏅5th in 2 & Under Geldings
* 🏅6th, 🏅6th in 2yo In-Hand Trail
⭐️ This was Wyatt’s debut in the show pen! After only three weeks in my program, my focus was ensuring he felt comfortable in a new environment. He exceeded all my expectations, placing in both classes. In 2yo in-hand trail, which requires saddling, he tackled new elements like side-passing, pivoting, trotting over poles, opening gates, and crossing bridges — all with only his second time wearing a saddle. He gave me his best effort, and I couldn't be more proud.
🌟 Wyatt is the first training horse I’ve had on-site and the first I’ve ever shown, making him incredibly special. Huge thanks to his owner for this wonderful opportunity!

🟢 Haydays Tidy Whities (River), Yearling APHA C**t🟢
* 🥇1st, 🥈2nd in Yearling In-Hand Trail
* 🥈2nd, 🥈2nd in Open 2 & Under Stallions
With Danielle Barman:
* 🥈2nd, 🥈2nd in AMA 2 & Under Stallions
* 🏆Unanimous Reserve Champion, AMA Stallions
⭐️ River has been with me for all four shows of the 2024 WRHA season, and his progress since I purchased him in March has been incredible. He’s intelligent, willing, and has a huge heart. I’m excited to see what the future holds for us!
🌟 This was my second year showing, and it was my first time placing at the top of my class in Yearling In-Hand Trail. The competition was strong, and it was an honor to compete alongside such talented teams. I’m grateful for the camaraderie and friendships I’ve gained through WRHA and can’t wait until next year.

We had quite the fan club of family and friends at this show, which makes me feel so loved. Thank you to all who came to support us. 💕💕

Wyatt and River got to go on a field trip yesterday!
Thank you to our friends Danielle and Lisa for inviting us to come play!!!

River was not excited to get back into work 🤣 I’ve been focusing on getting him back to a healthy weight since bringing him home. He was very offended that I pulled him from the pasture to work on trail obstacles 😒😅

On another note- Wyatt had a big day of firsts and is enjoying his time at school!
First time in an indoor, first time going over a bridge, AND first time being saddled!!!! What a good boy! He’s been with me for about 3 weeks and is gaining more confidence with every day that passes! Very proud of this boy and excited to bring him to his first show this weekend!!!

As always, rope halter and lead sets are from Ridge Creek Tack🤩

Baby horse had a huge day of firsts today!

She’s officially been here a week and has settled extremely well. The first week she’s been in a large foaling stall and I’ve spent time working with her on letting me approach, touching her all over, picking up feet, and facing me 2-3x daily for 10-30 mins each time.

Today was the first day that I put a halter on since we got her here, first time we’ve led her around the property, first time being turned out in the pasture, first time being tied and her first BATH!

The only reason we were able to accomplish multiple “firsts” in one day, is because of the prep that went in last week. Babies can get overstimulated and fearful quickly, which doesn’t put them in a state of mind to learn. It’s so critical to go slow, listen to their needs, and prepare them for what’s next.

When they think you’ll outgrow your horse obsession, but you’re a horse girl so you’ll be riding into the afterlife.

Talk about taking it to the grave😝

Yesterday on my lunch break I went out and said hi to the little nameless filly 🥰

I spent about 15 minutes just touching her and petting on her, she is doing so well with letting me approach her and touch her all over.

Here’s a snip of our session about 5 mins in. For never having her feet touched or picked up- this tells me what a smart little thing she is! Not to mention all the licking and chewing she’s doing 💕

Good baby!

Another before and after!

1st pic- taken from the second doorway of the stall barn before any work was done
2nd pic- started mowing & first pass through with a brush hog (thanks our new friends Tim & Jill for the help!)
3rd pic- all cut!
4th pic- the grass & weeds were uprooted, then was leveled with a tractor and box drag by one of my best friends, Tori! She did such an amazing job, brought in the big guns (tractor and box drag!) and put in an entire day of working on the arena and round pen for us!
5th pic- got the dirt all dragged!
6th pic- thanks to our friends Danielle and Lisa, we have a temporary round pen until ours gets delivered!!!
7th pic- working with my boy for the first time in a round pen 💕🙌🏻🙏🏻

Next step is to get some nice footing down!!!!!

Yes yes yes 🙌🏻
What a great reminder. It is SO much easier to dissect/hyper focus on our failures than to dissect our successes!!!

Everyone has been successful in their lives or achieved something that they are proud of.

Success can mean getting out of bed for the day, going for a walk for the first time in a while (or ever!), riding or working with your horse an extra day than usual! What success means to YOU is what is important.

If you don’t acknowledge your success, or the things you’re good at, you will spend so much time and energy thinking about what you consider to be failures instead of achieving MORE success.

I’m sharing this for others AND so I can look back and have this reminder to revisit.

I wish I would have gotten some better before and after pics!
Some good cleaning (removing old manure/shavings, knocking down of nests, and LOTS of cobweb removal), new stall mats, new lights and fresh shavings are just the beginning of bringing these stalls back to life!

We have 8 stalls in the barn and have half of them are ready to go! The other few need just need leveling and mats.

Stay tuned… more horses coming soon!

So blessed. We are officially in our new home!

Deep clean of the barn starts tomorrow!!!!!!! 😍😍😍
Stalls to be ready for Sunday! Can’t wait to get the first two horses moved in!!!

🎉 JUST SOLD! 🎉

I’m beyond thrilled to announce the sale of this beautiful equestrian property to my dear friends and buyer clients! It wasn’t an easy feat, but together we overcame so much, and now I can’t wait to see the amazing things they do with their new place on 10 acres! They’ll be starting their own c**t starting/training facility, and I’m so excited to watch their vision come to life.

Thank you for trusting me to be a part of this next chapter in your lives. It has been an honor, and I’m so happy to have been on this journey with you. Cheers to new beginnings and endless possibilities! 🐴🥂

How it started vs how it’s going with my personal c**t!
😍

First pic is from mid March (2024) when l bought River and second pic is from about a month ago.

For the first pic- River would rear, panic and even flip himself over if I tried to pass his shoulder or touch anywhere under his belly/on his legs. Baby things. 😂

The second picture is a pic my bf snapped for me when I was practicing one of Riv’s tricks. He now knows how to bow and lay down and so much more. In only a few months he went from the first pic to showing in hand trail & placing well- along with becoming a reliable little dude and trusting of me.
It’s amazing what consistency in training can do for your horse and how much they are really capable of!!

It isn’t always pretty working with babies, but you have to stay consistent and build their confidence to get those “pretty” results 💕

Two more of my personal favorites not on this list-

“If you want it bad enough, you’ll find a way. If you don’t, you’ll find an excuse.”
“What they learn first is what they learn best”

Quotes by Clinton Anderson that a young trainer should live by and most of us learn the hard way:

1. “Work harder than anybody else. That’s the one thing that will beat talent.”
2. “Nobody respects your money like you do no matter how much you pay them or how much incentive they have.”
3. “An employee will do what you inspect, not expect.”
4. “It’s not a bit that’s severe in a horses mouth, it’s the hands behind it.”
5. “Frustration begins where knowledge ends.”
6. “If you’re getting bucked off in the first place, it’s because you’ve already failed. The fact that your c**t wants to buck tells me you haven’t done your homework.”
7. “It’s amazing what you can get done in 8 hours, if you actually work for 8 hours”
8. “You better pick somebody that loves what you’re doing because horses are a drug. It doesn’t wear off. And people that don’t have that drug, will never get that drug.”
9. “Make sure that customer walks away feeling like they got more than they paid for. “

Hi friends! For those of you who are unfamiliar, my name is Alexis and I am one of the faces behind Grounded C**t Company. I am not new to training horses, but am finally making a page because I can now offer my services
🌟 AT MY OWN FACILITY!!!!! 🌟

-I will be running the training program and my boyfriend, John, will be behind the scenes helping as needed with property maintenance, transport, and assisting me when I need a hand! He is extremely knowledgeable and handy! Maybe one day we’ll see him training too 😝
This is an exciting new chapter for me that I’ve been working towards for a long time!

-A little bit about me, I’ve been training horses for 11 years. Within the last four years I’ve really found my niche, which is working with young horses. I am a member of ARHA, WRHA, and APHA registries. I also am a certified ARHA show secretary & currently show my own yearling stud prospect in ARHA events- in hand trail is my favorite! 🤩

-My passion lies in c**t starting and yearling foundation training. I believe every horse should have a solid foundation prior to advancing into their riding career, no matter the discipline they are destined for.

-I decided on the name Grounded C**t Co to represent myself and this business because it truly encompasses my beliefs in training and horsemanship.

-My definition of grounded is well balanced with emotional🧠 and physical 💪🏻 stability! Grounded horses make great partners. My goal with starting horses with a reliable foundation in handling and training is that there will be more successful horse and rider partners, and less “problems” to fix in their future!
“What they learn first is what they learn best” -CA

✨ Thank you to everyone who has played a role in helping us achieve this dream! Now comes the real work 😍🤩

We will be located in Marshfield, WI as of 8/22! I have openings for FOUR training spots in September. Please PM me with questions, separate post to follow with training services. References available.
Check out **t_co on Instagram for more posts, it’s been up for 2 yrs. 😇
