In August 2024, Molly adopted Mabel, completing her little feline family after bringing home Asher the previous year. At first, Molly was nervous about how the two cats would get along, but to her surprise, it only took two days before they became inseparable. Watching them groom each other, play, and cuddle solidified that they were meant to be together. One of the moments that truly tugged at Molly’s heart was seeing how protective Asher was over his new sister Mabel—always keeping an eye on her, making sure she’s safe, and letting her curl up beside him. Mabel, in return, has the sweetest habits, like reaching out for Asher’s attention and even “asking” for Molly’s arm to go around her when they cuddle. Seeing them so comfortable and happy in their new home, made Molly feel like they truly ended up in the right place.
Being a cat parent has taught Molly patience, both in dealing with the kitties’ mischievous moments and allowing time for the two to adjust to their new lives and each other. Molly has also realized how important routines are, not just for cats, but for her as well. Most importantly, Molly has learned just how much love cats can bring and how quickly and completely they changed her life for the better.
Mabel and Asher have truly become a bonded pair. They love, protect, and groom each other, and seeing their relationship grow has been Molly’s most rewarding surprises of adopting them. The moment Molly knew Mabel had truly found her forever home was when she left for a short time. When Molly came back home, both cats immediately greeted her at the door. In that moment, Molly knew that not only had she given them a home, but they had also given her one—filled with love, companionship, and endless adorable moments.

Wild horses couldn’t drag us away from Appaloosa snuggles!

If you’re looking for a sweet furry addition to your ranch, look no further than Appaloosa. From her unique eyes that remind us of turquoise to her habit of devotedly following around her favorite person, this little filly is something special! “Playful and lovable” were the first words that came to mind when her foster mom was asked to describe her. “Young and adaptable” Appaloosa would thrive in nearly any loving indoor home – a friend to all kids, cats and dogs that she’s met so far, especially if they play with her favorite stuffed mice toys with her! “I love how cuddly and loving she is. She’s always around and following me. She purrs non-stop. She is the sweetest.” Wild horses won’t be able to drag you away from Appaloosa snuggles!

Some of our best fosters fell into this role accidentally.

In 2020 Shannon and her husband noticed their neighbor had quite a few cats. Sometimes they wandered over to their property. They had cats of their own, so they began to leave food out for the neighbor cats. One orange kitty with beautiful blue eyes came back regularly and became quite friendly. She could see he wasn't neutered, and he often showed up with new wounds on his body. Shannon knew of Whiskers TNR from a friend, and she called to see if they would be interested in helping to get him neutered. Whiskers TNR coached her through how to catch him, and before long he was neutered, vaccinated, and had all his wounds cared for by a vet. Eventually, Shannon spoke with her neighbor and realized he had at least 12 other cats living on his property. Thankfully he was receptive to Whiskers TNR helping to spay/neuter and vaccinate the rest of them.
A litter of kittens found on the same property became the first fosters Shannon and her husband took in. Though it was difficult to know they wouldn’t be staying with them forever, all the kittens eventually found homes. And when that litter was adopted, they took the next, and the next. To date, Shannon’s family has fostered 77 cats.
One particularly memorable foster was an adult cat named Midnight from an outdoor colony. When she was brought in, they thought she was pregnant, but it turned out she had so many litters previously that her belly looked permanently pregnant, and her uterus was literally disintegrating. Another litter might have killed her. After a particularly rough start with an initial adoptive family, Midnight eventually came back to Shannon as a foster again. But with some extra love and attentiveness to her needs, Midnight finally started sitting on our laps and asking for attention. Eventually the snarky girl even snuggled in bed with them. The perfect patient couple decided to adopt her a year later and Shannon is incredibly grateful they were able to give her the stability she needed to thrive.
Shannon and her husband learned to be kitty advocates on accident, but we couldn’t be more appreciative of all the love and care they provide.

On Tuesday, Whiskers accepted a grant from Petco Love for a story about a little girl and her cat. We wanted to share the day with our followers, enjoy this video from that day.
