What do you mean you haven’t signed your pup up for doggy daycare at Happy Tails yet?!? 🤨🧐
We get it! Dog daycares often get a bad rep - and unfortunately, many of them deserve that reputation. That’s why we are starting a new weekly series to explain what makes Happy Tails different and why your best furry friend’s happiness and comfort will *ALWAYS* be our top priority!
So let’s start this off with something we think may be the MOST important thing that makes Happy Tails different…
We are a fear and force free facility!
What exactly does this mean?
1. We do not use methods of training, etc. that would instill fear or be forceful in any way. You will NEVER see the use of e-collars, or other training devices that instill fear into a dog at Happy Tails. Instead, we use treats, physical affirmation like petting, and various other rewards for positive behavior or to move dogs from one area to another.
2. We have calming music and scents, as well as sound machines in our indoor spaces.
3. If a dog does need some assistance moving to another area, or in the event of multiple dogs needing to be separated, we use gentle slip leads to guide them where they need to be.
4. We play naked! Because collars, harnesses, etc. can be anxiety inducing and dangerous during play, as soon as a pup arrives at Happy Tails, we take everything off of them. Once they’re naked, they feel more calm and relaxed and are ready to join our pack!
