Susie's puppies are old enough now to add the play pen onto their whelping pen. Once I finish setting it up, it will double in size and they will start pottying in one side and playing/sleeping in the other. The pine chips will stay on one side and other will be clear to encourage their potty training.

Lots of toys being added and starting soon, they will be introduced to the ball pool and in good weather, going outside.

The news is full of stories about a new outbreak of a canine respiratory disease. There is no need to panic. Just practice your normal precautions in public. If your dog gets sick, take them to the vet. The media makes its money off of scaring people, the more scared they make you, the higher their ratings go.

There are many stories about 'what is it.' They don't really know yet. Some dogs have tested positive for Mycoplasma which is an ick that is normally occurring in the environment and many dogs carry a light load and you never know it. It is ick season after all. Cold, wet, dreary yet not cold enough to kill off some stuff.

Other dogs, especially in the Midwest have tested positive for a variant of Strep Zoo. THIS is a deadly ick that was imported into the U.S. in shipments of 'rescue' dogs from Asia. There have been a number of huge outbreaks of Strep Zoo over the past 5+ years in Midwest shelters because of this. It's yet another reason to avoid public dog parks.

Just continue on with your lives and practice your normal precautions when in public and this like all other icks will pass.

Susie's Pink Ribbon - Black and Red Phantom Girl at 4 weeks old. Very calm and placid during her first grooming. She did great!

Between 3 and 4 weeks old, everyone changed from potatoes to recognizable poodles. :-) They have all been tucking into their puppy mush so well that a good face cleaning was called for. Everyone got their first face shaves, base of tail and toe nails clipped again.

She is SOLD.

Susie's Apricot and White Parti Girl at 4 weeks old. Color DNA testing has revealed that she is also at/at, which means she is a full phantom, the pattern is just being hidden by the parti gene unlike her brother who has some phantom markings showing.

She is irked that I interrupted her nap for this. :-)

Each day I rotate the type of mush they get. Chicken, lamb, beef, they get introduced to it all at this stage. Today is chicken and goats milk.

This week they start the transition to solid kibble. Individual pictures are coming soon!

A decade into his serendipitous career, Wendell was handling for Hollycourt, regularly picking up new clients, and obviously doing something right. He hadn’t followed a traditional roadmap, but he knew he was on the right track. As Seneca noted a few thousand years earlier, “Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity”. And he was in for the opportunity of a lifetime.

Henry Kaiser, generally described by the all encompassing title of industrialist, definitely had a flair for innovative business models beginning with Kaiser Shipyards in World War II. After the war, Kaiser Defense plants were seamlessly revamped to meet the massive demand for domestic products. Over the next two decades his steadily expanding empire incorporated health care, auto and aircraft design, construction, real estate, and mass media. He owned 29 companies and those Kaiser revenue streams were flowing to the tune of $775 million annually when he decided that Florida didn’t own the luxury resort business. Wendell Sammet of Bryantville (Pembroke) Massachusetts died peacefully in his sleep on November 9, 2023. He was born on November 23, 1925 to Minnie and Joseph Sammet of Milton Massachusetts. Wendell was a legend in the world of show dogs. Wendell was the first recipient of the American Kennel Club.....

Happy Birthday Laura’s Amazing Mazie Grace!
This year has gone by so fast! Mazie is a very loving young lady. She loves to cuddle and lick but is also an active playmate. Every morning she wants to “bug” her older brother Charley by grabbing what ever toy he is playing with or wrestle with him.

She weighs just over 50 pounds. Her coat is very wavy and silky smooth, not super curly like Charley’s. She is very nervous in new situations like grooming.

She is still in dog training and can sit, stay, wait, command heel really well. She loves to chew on her bones (see her bone collection below).
