Dogs (1 year and older): $40
Puppies (less than one 1 year): $80
Cats/Kittens: $20

All animals that are not already spayed/neutered, will need to be within 30 days of adoption per VA state law, at the adopter's expense. Puppies and kittens will be extended until 6 months of age.

Fred is a 1-year-old bundle of social awkwardness with the kindest heart, and he's looking for someone who appreciates a little bit of quirky charm. At first, Fred might seem a bit shy but trust us — once he feels comfortable, he’s all in with sweet snuggles, gentle hugs, and tender kisses.

Fred’s not about the spotlight, but he will happily shine in your heart. He’s the kind of dog who takes his time getting to know you, but when he does, he’s a loyal companion who will be by your side through thick and thin.

Have you ever wanted a cow but don’t have the farm?

Meet Milkshake! He’s a one-year-old black and white terrier mix who looks like a cow, loves like a dog, and plays like a total goofball. 50% dog, 50% dairy cow, and 100% ridiculous. He won’t produce milk, but he WILL steal your heart (and probably your snacks).

🥤 Why is he called Milkshake?
Because he brings all the dogs to the yard! (he LOVES other dogs and would make a great addition to a multi-dog home.)

Milkshake is:

Meet Everly! 💕

Everly has had a rough start, coming from a cat hoarding situation, but after spending some time in a foster home, we’ve gotten to know the gentle soul behind those big, beautiful eyes.

This sweet, 3-year-old girl longs for love but doesn’t quite know how to ask for it yet. At first, she seems puzzled by pets, unsure of what to make of a kind touch—but once she discovers the joy of head scratches, she leans in, soaking up every bit of affection.

Everly needs a patient adopter who will give her the time and space to come out of her shell at her own pace. She may start off cautious, but with love and understanding, she’ll blossom into the affectionate companion we know she’s meant to be.

If you have a heart big enough for a cat who just needs a little extra time, Everly is waiting to meet you. Could you be her safe haven?

Meet Red Hawk!

Red Hawk is a young beagle with a mysterious past. He appeared from the woods one day with scars on his right wrist and a scar on his right thigh. Much like a hawk, he is dignified and, admittedly, flighty. We can only assume from the condition he was found in, his fondness of autonomy, and his distrust of humans that he has been on his own for quite some time! It is possible this is his first time experiencing pethood in any capacity; Much of the experience seems unfamiliar and even scary to him, so he would love a patient human who can enjoy quiet moments sharing space with him.

He has shown interest in his foster’s resident dog but seems uncertain about how to play with another dog. Crinkle toys and treat dispensing balls seem to be his amusement of choice when he settles down for the night. He enjoys plain boiled chicken and small amounts of cheese as a treat. Red Hawk has not tried many foods or had too much fuss during his stay due to a sensitive stomach that appears to be triggered by stress, commotion, and new foods introduced too suddenly. He does enjoy a comfortable plush bed to relax in and listening to the sounds of nature in sunshine!

To all the incredible dogs and cats still waiting for their forever homes, we want to take a moment to say: we're sorry. We know that you've been waiting patiently for your perfect human, and we can only imagine how tough it's been. Every wag of your tail, every hopeful look, and every bark and meow that echoes through the shelter is a reminder of just how much love you have to give. We wish we could wave a magic wand and find you home today. But we're hopeful that maybe, just maybe, this weekend will be your lucky weekend. Your perfect family might just be out there, and we won't stop working until we find them. Hang in there, sweet fur babies — we believe in you, and we're rooting for you every step of the way. We’ll be open for adoptions tomorrow from 12:30-4:30pm. Come visit us!

Update: Adopted!! Meet adoptable Blue! 💙 Blue is a one-year-old, handsome male dog with gorgeous blueish-gray fur and a muscular build. He is a extroverted and friendly pup, who loves people. He has a big heart and a charming personality. This sweet boy loves snuggling up to you with his whole body. But not only is Blue affectionate, he is a smart cookie too, knowing commands like sit and down with ease. He is confident and loves to learn new tricks. With his active and playful personality, he is always ready for an adventure and would thrive in a home with an active lifestyle. Don’t forget, for the whole month of January we are having our NAME YOUR PRICE adoption special. So be sure to stop by during open hours to meet Blue or any of our other adoptable pets!
