DOGGIE DAY OUT

Sweet June went on a hiking field trip last week and as you can tell by the smile on her face she had a blast. From picking up sticks to meeting strange dogs on the trail and having no issues at all she had a wonderful day of sunshine and fun. June said she may be deaf but that does not stop her from enjoying the sights and smells of nature.

HAPPY TAILS FROM 2021= Benny aka Benjamin Franklin

We adopted Benny October 30, 2021. We had been looking for a small dog for a while and my friend let me know that he was there. We immediately went to pick him up and he's been our rotten boy ever since! He's got the funniest little personality, mean as a snake and my favorite little snuggler. He's grown into his ears but he's still the cutest boy ever! He's my secret keeper and knows how to brighten even the darkest day. He's definitely our baby and we're so thankful for him. We didn't change his name, Benny fit him but he's Benjamin Franklin, Beanie baby, Benny boy, little devil amongst many other names.

We are incredibly grateful for Christopher Prater from Prater Car Care for his kindness and generosity in detailing our secondary shelter vehicle. His hard work and attention to detail have left our vehicle looking and feeling like new. More importantly, his contribution will help us continue to safely transport small numbers of animals to medical appointments. There was so much grime and pet hair that needed to be removed and Chris did a fantastic job. Feel free to check out his detailing business. Again, thank you to Chris for his passion and commitment to assist our organization.

We want to take a moment and talk about Wall-E, because, quite honestly, he’s downright scary when he’s in his run. We know it, you know it, and everyone walking around the building knows it when someone is by his run. But that ISN'T his true personality, which is why we now have a sheet in front of his run door.

Wall-E has severe barrier aggression making kennel life extremely stressful for him (and everyone walking past him). From spending months in a cage as a puppy, to months in a run as an adult after being surrendered to another shelter, Wall-E hasn’t had the best experience during kennel life….do you blame him? Except when he goes outside 3-4 times a day in the play yards, he has to stare at 4 blank walls All Day Long. Toys help, frozen & interactive food helps to break the monotony, but only somewhat. Wouldn’t you be a little crazy too?

Truly Wall-E is a goofy lug of a dog who adores spending time outside, loves food, and loves toys. Yeah, he’s got some issues, but doesn’t he deserve the same attention as the fluffy poodle next door? Wall-E is a resource guarder and needs work to learn to share. He needs to be given space to eat his food, and would probably be best without young children in his life.

We wanted to share some videos of Wall-E in the play yards with staff to show everyone the truth he hides behind the scary behavior in the run.

Please consider adopting Wall-E and helping him remember what life outside a shelter is like.
