NNHS is a no-kill shelter serving Maryville and Nodaway County (Missouri) and the surrounding area The shelter helps transport these animals across the country.

We invite anyone who has interest in promoting responsible pet care in our community, whether you are a volunteer, a donor, a business or pet lover. You can get involved in a variety of ways:

Be a buddy - For $10 each month, you can sponsor a shelter animal. Your donation helps offset the cost of food, shelter and vaccinations. You can also visit your buddy, spending quality time to learn more ab

out its personality. Some sponsors also pay for spaying/neutering to help with the animal's adoption. Be an angel - For $50 each month, your donation will help offset the operating costs of the shelter, including utilities, wages and vet bills. You can sign up as an individual, a family, a business or an organization. Rescue transport - Some of our animals are not adoptable in our community, due to age or medical condition. However, we have located reputable rescue organizations throughout the country who have the time and resources to train these animals for adoption or place them in quality foster homes. You can help by offering your time to drive a short leg of the trip (often 2 hours) to help these animals travel to their new homes. Volunteer - Drop by the shelter and learn about how we care for our animals. You can take them for walks, play with them outside the cages and help us find homes for them. Organize a fundraiser - We LOVE our community, which is full of tender-hearted individuals of all ages who are determined to assist us with our mission. We’ve been keeping a little secret … well more like six. On October 14th, Luna gave birth to a litter of seven puppies. Sadly, the pup named Capricorn struggled and crossed the Rainbow Bridge that first week.
