This is a repost from memories, but oh so true still today!

I lost a friend 2 days ago. He spent the day doing what he enjoyed most in life. Sat down and fell asleep and never woke up.

If I had to choose the way I'd go,
I'd choose the way my friend did go

To sit down and take a rest
And wake up in the arms of Jesus

Oh what a dream that must have been!
We know not when we will be called home

He had no time to change his mind
The Son had come to take him home

Are you ready my friend to meet your Lord?

A calf died today - a twin. Momma took the other calf and left this one. When this calf was discovered it was brought over to bottle feed. One calf, starved, motherless, Darrel spent hours trying to save this calf. Teaching it to suck, but it died anyway. The sadness over one calf out of hundreds. One of the facts of a rancher. They deal with life and death everyday. He is out there in all kinds of weather taking care of his livestock. Hail storm took out 2 of his pivots of beans and now he is replanting beans. He was up at 5:30 this morning feeding so he could make it to church and worship his Lord and Savior and had to leave and not make it to SS because he had to fix a tank so livestock could drink. And finally got in from all that at 2:00. When many are thinking of retiring he is out there working hard as ever. What keeps him going?

-The simple things of life - watching the grass blow in the wind over the hills
- watching the mist rise off the river
- watching the sunrise welcoming a new day
-listening to the birds sing a song
-the doe and her dawns frolicking in the meadow
-the winds whisper a hymn as it blows across the wide open plains
