🥳Heiress is expecting!!!🥳

Her and Jax were both produced right here at Clover Ridge and we are so excited to see their babies!! We are expecting mini and standard sizes for this litter with color possibilities of black & white, blue, silver merle and blue merle!! Shes due January 23rd with go home dates of late March! Our waitlist is OPEN!! 🌟🌟🌟

Freya gets her big girl vaccinations today!!💉💉

At 4 months old, she is a tween and entering what we lovingly refer to as the “puppy uglies”. This is the in between stage of shedding their puppy coat and waiting for their adult coat to come in! We still think she’s cute as can be!!

She will be a future Pomsky mama for us and has a fabulous guardian family anxiously waiting to welcome her to their home in January!! 🥰🥰

Pomskies & Crate Training: Why It Matters 🐾

Crate training is one of the most important skills a Pomsky can learn—and it’s not optional during puppyhood.

🍼 As puppies:
Pomskies must be crated when unsupervised for safety, structure, and potty training. Puppies should only be let out when they are calm and quiet, no matter how long it takes. Letting them out while whining or barking teaches them that noise = freedom.

⏳ Consistency creates calm:
Crating teaches self-regulation, patience, and independence. Over time, most Pomskies learn to settle, relax, and feel secure in their crate—and many come to love it.

🎉 As adults:
By around one year of age, many Pomskies no longer need to be crated daily—but they still must know how. Crate training remains an essential life skill for:
✔ Travel
✔ Vet visits
✔ Grooming or boarding
✔ Emergencies or injury recovery

A crate is not punishment—it’s a tool for safety and structure. A well crate-trained Pomsky is calmer, more confident, and easier to manage for life ❤️

Pomsky Coat Types & Weather: What You Should Know ❄️☀️

Pomskies are a double-coated breed, meaning they are naturally designed to regulate their body temperature in a wide range of climates—from cold Canadian winters to hot Florida summers.

🧬 How the double coat works:
Pomskies have: • A soft, dense undercoat that insulates
• A longer guard coat that protects from sun, heat, wind, and moisture

This system works like natural climate control—trapping warmth in cold weather and releasing heat in warm weather.

👉 Coat length does NOT affect temperature regulation.
Whether a Pomsky is plush, wooly, or standard coat, the double coat functions the same. Shaving or trimming does not help them stay cooler and can actually interfere with proper regulation.

🌎 Highly adaptable dogs:
Pomskies thrive in many environments when given: • Proper hydration
• Shade and rest in heat
• Shelter and warmth in extreme cold

⚠️ Owners should always watch for signs of discomfort, such as excessive panting, lethargy, shivering, or reluctance to move—and adjust activity accordingly.

Bottom line: Pomskies are versatile, adaptable dogs built for many climates. Responsible ownership—not coat length—is what keeps them comfortable and safe year-round 🐾❤️
