We have an employee at PVH who has some foster cats looking for a new home! The first one we wanted to share is Chowder!

Chowder is a confident, independent cat, with an intense love for treats. She loves to spend her days lounging in the sun, and comes running as soon as she hears the sound of treats. She is slow to warm up, but once she’s bonded to you she’ll sit next to you on the couch and politely ask for pets. She gets along well with male cats, and loves to snuggle with her foster family’s cat.

Chowder is approximately 2 years old, has been spayed, is up to date on all vaccines, and is in good health.

Jeepers creepers, where'd you get those peepers? In Phillip's case, he was born like this, but got a little bit of help along the way. He came to see us earlier this year with the complaint of squinting and green discharge from his eyes for over a year. Ocular infections are a common finding in cats, usually as a component of a respiratory infection from one of the viruses cats are susceptible to, but an infection that lasts for that long is unusual to say least. During his examination we found that he had abnormally wide eyelids - so wide that they did not fit his face, and folded inward, causing a condition called entropion. Entropion is seen frequently in dogs, especially breeds with droopy faces, but is rare in cats.

Although cats don't have eyelashes, the fur on Phillip's eyelids did rub on his eyes, creating constant irritation and leading to infection. Antibiotic eyedrops were given to help with the immediate infection, but because his eyelids were still too large he needed surgery to correct the underlying problem. A small wedge of skin was removed from the outside corner of each eye to remove some of the excess, and a small strip of skin was removed from each lower eyelid to keep them from rolling inwards.

His eyes are a little narrower now than normal, but they are so much more comfortable. His mom says that he feels so much better now that his eyes don't hurt, it's like having a whole new cat! Here's looking at you, kid!
