Yesterday, we introduced you to Pixie, Goose’s fur sibling and our Director Holly Guild’s beloved pup! We asked you to guess her breed mix, and now it’s time for the big reveal… 🧐🐶

🎉 Pixie’s DNA results show that she is:
🐕 100% American Staffordshire Terrier! 💪❤️

At 5 years old, these inseparable Jack Russell Terriers had their world turned upside down when their owner had to surrender them due to health issues. Now, they’re feeling a little lost and are looking for a loving home where they can stay together. ❤️

Every week, we’re making a special stop at Biggby Coffee 517 (MLK) with one of our adoptable dogs for a Pup Cup Break! 🎉 That means one lucky pup gets a delicious whipped cream treat and a break from the shelter!

This week’s featured pup is Bluby, and let’s just say… he was a BIG fan of his pup cup! 😍🐾 If you’re looking for a sweet, lovable companion (who may try to steal your whipped cream), Bluby is your guy! After Bluby got his pup cup he actually went to a foster home! So if you are interested in meeting him, please contact us at the shelter to set up a meet and greet!

Life hasn’t been kind to this 2-year-old pit bull—he was found as an underweight stray at just 32 pounds, every rib visible. But in just two weeks at the shelter, with nothing more than regular meals and basic care, he’s already gained nearly 8 pounds—proving that with love and consistency, he’s ready to thrive. 💙

💞 Soft-hearted & affectionate—he’s all about love and gentle snuggles.
🐕 Starting to love other dogs! He’s still figuring out playtime but would do well with a calm, easygoing female dog to help build his confidence.

She’s been through a lot—raising a litter of adorable puppies and putting everyone else first. But now? She’s ready to focus on herself and find someone who will cherish her as much as she deserves.

💖 Loves long walks & outdoor adventures—the more sniffing, the better.
🐶 Great with dogs, cats, and all humans—she’s basically the life of the party.

At Animal Control, We Get All Kinds of Animals… Even Penguins?! 🐧

Introducing Elle the Penguin! She recently waddled into our care as a stray. She’s playful, loves the snow, and rocks a classic black-and-white look. 🖤🤍

…Okay, fine. Elle is actually an adorable baby Border Collie/Bully mix, but with her penguin costume and love for chilly adventures, she had us all fooled! ❄️😂

This little explorer is currently living in a foster home with other dogs. She’s a smart, lovable pup who should do well in just about any home—as long as you’re ready for puppy antics!

🐾 Elle’s Foster Mom Says:
✔️ Super sweet & playful
✔️ Good with dogs who don't mind a bouncy puppy
✔️ Learning crate training (not her favorite yet, but she’s trying!)
✔️ A really great baby overall!

Since we’re new to caring for "penguins," we have to ask our friends at Potter Park Zoo if they have any tips on keeping our newest “penguin” happy? 😂

🐾 Meet Patrick – A Cat Ready to Settle Down 🐾

Sweet Patrick has had a whirlwind of a year. 💔 After his owner passed away, he was passed from home to home, never quite finding a place to stay. Now, at about 7 years old, this gentle, friendly boy is ready for the one thing he wants most—a forever home. 🏡❤️

Despite all the change, Patrick has shown how resilient and loving he is. He adjusted quickly to shelter life and will likely do the same in his new home. He’s lived with other cats before and would love a cozy spot to finally settle down.

Chickpea came to us from another shelter and now she’s ready to find her perfect home! This sweet 2-year-old may be a little shy at first, but once she warms up, her friendly personality shines. Chickpea really comes out of her shell around other dogs and would thrive with a playful canine friend to boost her confidence. 🐾 Happy ! 🐾

We've got a update to share! One week ago, Grapefruit found her forever home, and she’s already thriving! 🍊 Now named Stella, she wasted no time settling in—wagging her tail, playing with toys, and even making a new doggy friend. 🐶💖

Her adopters let her pick her own name, and when they called her Stella, she perked right up and made it official! ✨ She’s adjusting faster than expected, though she’s not a fan of the cold (we get it, girl!). Her family is getting her a cozy sweater to help with those chilly potty breaks. 🧣

Her new family says:
💬 “I’m glad we were the lucky ones to adopt her! Everyone that meets her likes her so much.”

We love a happy ending! Wishing Stella a lifetime of love and snuggles. 🏡💕
