Are you even getting all the cobwebs if you aren’t using a shopvac? 😂

With an older barn and exposed rafters we deal with cobwebs daily especially in the winter when the doors are closed up. Having a shopvac in the barn not only makes cobwebbing easier but helps keep the barn looking fresh and minimizes dust in the areas that are difficult to get to with a broom.

One more item checked off of our winter preparation list ✅

Roof is on over the hay feeder for the dry lots and slow feed netting has been attached! This will help us greatly in making sure our horses have the necessary quality and quantity of hay to last them through those colder winter days!

We’ve been busy making some updates in the barn in hopes of creating some more organization and cleaning up the barns appearance! We have removed the bars from the stall doors so we can close doors but still allow the horses to have their heads out, we have replaced the old door latches with gravity latches behind the doors which close automatically when the door is closed, and we have created a blanket area in our utility area of the barn! These are updates we have wanted to make for several years and finally had some time to get them completed! It’s so cool to look back on where we started compared to everything we have accomplished with this facility. More updates to come as we head into winter!

Kent State Team members!!
We are well on our way to our informational meeting for this season on September 7th at 9:00am at the barn. We are needing someone from the team to assume the "President" role for this year. This title may seem overwhelming but have no fear, we are here to help! We have just a few requirements that need fulfilled through the university which our coach cannot take care of since she is not an employee. This role has to be filled by a willing student. If this is something you may be interested in or if you would like to help out, please reach out to us! The role is really only busy before the start of the season with the exception of the occasional email update to our club sports guy.

We are looking for a riding instructor! Someone who would like to take over a few of our established students, cover for our current trainer on days she is unavailable and bring their own clientele to the facility! We teach English and western lessons so an individual well versed in both disciplines would be ideal. Our horses can accommodate beginner lunge line lessons up to advanced maneuvers and everything in between. We would ideally like to find someone before September when our trainer begins preparing the Kent State Team riders for their season. Pay will be discussed privately and facility visits can be arranged privately as well for anyone interested.
