Our friends at Critters 4 U Rescue could use a hand! they are helping with a huge rescue and need assistance right now!! Please share

Biscuit, 1 of the Aussie Mix babies who came in to rescue last week has been struggling since he came to us several days ago. He started to crash in middle of the night and was rushed to the ER vet. Bloodwork revealed has very low red blood cell count and needs blood transfusion. He is being transferred to another er vet now because of his critical need for blood transfusion and they r going to be closing soon. Please pray for Biscuit and send him healing thoughts. Biscuit needs each and every one of your support. We do not have the funds however we cant give up on Biscuit. He was just saved from horrible neglect living in the brutal heat.
He is at Peninsula Emergency and referral Center.

We have four ADORABLE little Mini Rex bunnies ready for forever homes.
They are sweet and social and hoping to land in homes where they can be an active member of the family.
These little ones will require INDOOR homes and signed adoption contracts at pick up.

those who came to see us at Gilmanor -we left at 1pm on Friday with 2 kids in my van hauling the trailer & 1 in his car with everything loaded to the MAX. 25 animals, 5 tents (2 set up and 3 camping) everything loaded for a warm overnight at the biggest swap event in Virginia! We avoided the innerstate on the way there because everything was so loaded. An hour from home in New Kent randomly my transmission (im pretty sure anyway) totally goes out. Thankfully my dad is able to come help us get the animals and us to safety buthes an hour away. Tow truck is also an hour out. So when my dad gets there we bolt to move everything over from my van to his pickup truck. Then he says he will ride back with the tow truck and my van while i take the truck (now loaded) to the big swap with the kids. Great! I should have taken the car issues as a sign to just go home but Viv REALLLLY wanted to still go and the older ones were up to it. So we went.
Got there by 6pm. We worked nonstop to set up (now there was a chance of rain overnight) and finallyw as setting in around 10. Storm rolls in.... ENTIRE NIGHT OF BAD STORMING!
All the tents flooded. Everyone's stuff got wet, freezing cold (remember we packed for a WARM NIGHT like the weather showed) one kid has panic attacks all night long, one gets so cold and shakey and nervous they end up throwing up. NO ONE SLEPT more than a few short dozes.
4 am we see the weather shows a couple hours of the rain stopping before it starts back... so we decide to rush to make it home during that time because the animals crates will have to be in the back of the truck. As the sun is coming up we are leaving (along with many others who decided not to tough it out)
Made it home by 8:30am saturday, put the animals away and barely made it to bed. Slept for 10 straight hours!
I know others had really rough weekends too- So i don't mean to take away from theirs... only to say WHY if you came to see us there- we were not there.
Spent $200+ getting the car ready for the haul, $100+ on supplies, $60 on the sites... and now we are down one vehicle.... Oh but we adopted out 2 roosters. The rescue made a whole $5 there... So we are doing a fundraiser to help us recover from this. 😭Anything will help.

We are casually looking for a small older horse/livestock trailer to fix up for transporting.
We are fine with a fixer upper as long as it's road worthy.

The summer of 2022 we took in a hamster not knowing much about him. The previous owners didn't even know if it was male/female. We quickly realized this little guy was very traumatized! He appeared to have an injured foot on top of the fact that you couldn't touch him. He would SCREAM when anyone came near out of fear. After several months of working with him daily, I was able to pick him up enough to move him when needed although he did NOT like it. He eventually got so he was ok with me being around, as long as i didn't touch him. I've never met a more traumatized animal- it was so sad. Altho we continued to work with him, he never became comfortable enough where we could adopt him out. He was "ok" with me- and eventually with Viv. But we knew his rules and played by them. He is the same little guy who escaped his cage TWICE and went roaming the house - once for 3 days!
He never bit anyone but he made it very clear that he was NOT looking for a relationship of any sorts.
Sometimes all we can do is give an animal, that no one wants, a space to live their life under their rules. He didn't want to be played with. He didn't want company (Syrian hamsters are solo pets) but seemed content in his house with his tubes and toys.
Little Sonic passed away yesterday- we don't know how old he was but he was with us for almost 2 years (2 years is a typical hamster lifespan).
This is the part of my "job" that I don't usually talk about lot about. The ones that just need a space, care and protection... the ones we get no snuggles from.
They are lifelong residents and we are ok with that.

Ya’ll know we are all about reusing “trash” and using it to save animals lives. Not only helping the animals, but helping our planet!
We are looking for some items to help with our expansion - so we are bringing it to our local friends & family!

Meet some of our friends who are waiting for a loving home!
Rosie is a female adult who came from a hoarding situation. She has been with us almost a year now and would REALLY love her own home.
Ursa Major is from a neighborhood where she was “turned loose” to fend for herself. She came to us skin and bones having only lived off what she could find for several months. She is plump and ready for a home now though!
Vanny was born here after his parents were finally caught living in a neighborhood (another “released” bunny situation) and his mom gave birth just days later. But the stress of having to fend for herself and pregnancy was too much. She pasted just 2 weeks after giving birth to a litter of eleven babies! We bottle fed all the
babies and they were all adopted- except sweet Vanny. He is social, sweet and a clown. He is waiting for his forever family.
Ken is a Rex furred boy who is less than a year old. He is waiting for his own place to call home!
Watson could truly be an emotional support bunny. He is such a sweet boy and loves to snuggle. He wants nothing more than to sit and be loved. He is neutered and at one time was fully litter box trained! He is a little depressed waiting for his forever family.
Toby is an older boy- we were told he is 8 years old when he came to us but you wouldn’t know it when you meet him! He is such a sweet boy who loves attention. He hopes he can hop into your heart!

Between 7:30 & 7:40am this morning (01/12/2024) someone went off the road and hit our 4x6 post directly across from our driveway that held our locking mailbox. We heard the impact and there are parts of the vehicle amongst the remains of our mailbox.
It has been reported to the amazing officers at Mathews County Sheriff's Office and we honestly hope that the driver is ok after such a powerful impact.
We desperately need to replace this- so we are having a fundraiser to put in a new heavy duty, locking mailbox. Please share and donate if you can.
And if you know who this was- please let us know. We have some parts of the vehicle that were found in the ditch.

We had a great time at the mathews Christmas Parade today! Sadly there were not enough volunteers to walk around with our donation buckets 😞 so we are passing around a virtual donation bucket! 🪣
The winter is hard when we have less and less adoptions and more and more surrenders… plus fundraising is at an all time low right now. “Extra” money is hard to come by for everyone.
But if we could all donate a couple dollars- it would provide food, shelter and care for all the animals that come our way. They are fed, socialized and loved until they are comfortable enough to move on to a good home. All through donations. Any help is appreciated greatly ❤️

This is Liz- founder, director and person who does 90% of everything here. I need to get something off my chest- please bear with me.
I'm feeling very exhausted lately. I have spent my life TRYING my best to do "good" and fulfill what I feel I was meant to do on this planet- and still have people come out of nowhere badmouthing me and trying to bring me down. People that I have never even met.
If they would just TALK TO ME/us, tell me their concerns- I would be happy to talk about it.
If they think they can do rescue work better than me- GREAT PLEASE PLEASE step up and do it. I am not begging to take these homeless animals in. People come to us in need of someone to take them for MANY reasons and I/we do the absolute best we can, without judgement, without requiring a donation. If they are healthy and friendly and able to be adopted out- we do our best to find them a home. If not (a lot of time), like when they come to us on deaths door... emaciated & full of parasites. Or worse yet they have been dumped and had to fend for themselves for days/weeks/months... and they no longer trust humans. Some of those animals don't go on to homes... they just stay here and live the rest of their lives- on their terms. If they don't want to be touched... ok. They don't have to do anything- we will provide for them anyway.
Now I also have OUR animals... and if I decide to breed MY pedigreed rabbits or hatch some of MY eggs, that has NOTHING to do with the way i/we run the rescue. Even so- when I do, every cent that comes in from that- GOES BACK INTO THE RESCUE FUND!
I work 24/7/365 taking care of these animals that others have thrown away/given up on.
Do you know, I do not make a dollar off of everything I do?
People tell me I should be getting a salary- but if I did- it would take money AWAY from feeding and caring for the animals. My family & I work very hard to bring in enough just to make ends meet with feed and supply bills (and when they don't meet we cover the bills ourselves).
I answer messages all day every day from people who have animal questions. Who need help in one way or another. ALL DAY. Don't ask for a thing in return.
Is our yard chaos- full of donations that need to be fixed up, put away, hauled off... Projects that we ran out of materials, time and energy. YES. We are human. We are also both not at 100% and doing our best with what we have. We are both VERY thankful to even be alive- (after hubby's stroke and my brain aneurism) we are NOT in a "my yard is better than yours" competition, or do we care what others really think. We do everything we do to help the animals in need. They don't care if the yard is full of hutches, or there is weeds growing in the gutters or the broke down car in the driveway. They are grateful and happy to have a warm bed and full belly. And they are the priority.
If you don't like it- then COME HELP!! Come adopt an animal in need, or sponsor one financially! Come help clean up! Come haul stuff away for us... Buy better supplies & stuff for the animals...
If not-
Then don't look.
Don't donate.
Don't share.
And don't speak of us & just keep your negativity to yourselves.
I just don't have the energy to fight those battles.

Help Needed!
We need handful of people who enjoy social media to raise some winter feed bills funds. The more the better! We are not as out and about during the winter but the cost is higher to keep everyone healthy and warm.

*Peppa Update*
If you have been following Peppa's story, she had to have surgery a few weeks ago due to a tumor on her underside. The amazing vets at Tidewater Equine Clinic did an AMAZING job and she has been acting like her self since the next day!
The results came back from the testing though and it was, in fact, cancer. It is believed that all of the growth was removed and she should be able to continue living her care free life.
We just wanted to thank everyone who donated, shared and sent well wishes for our pink piggy friend.
