If you are traveling with your dog outside the ISA including to Canada you need to read this
Dear Inglemoor Families,
Effective August 1, 2024, the United States will have new regulations for dogs entering the U.S. This is important information for anyone who might be traveling to Canada with their dog, as re-entry into the United States will have specific guidelines.
The following is a succinct summary of the new policy:
Dogs must be at least 6 months old to enter the U.S.
Dogs must appear healthy.
Dogs must have an ISO microchip implanted prior to the current rabies vaccine.
If a dog received previous rabies vaccines but did not have a microchip at the time of vaccination, the dog must receive a microchip, then be vaccinated for rabies. This rabies vaccine will only be considered valid for one year (for U.S. entry purposes) as any rabies vaccines prior to the microchip implant cannot be verified. Subsequent rabies vaccines will be the standard 3-year.
Pet owners will need to present a Certification of U.S.-Issued Rabies Vaccine.
Certificate must be issued by a USDA-accredited veterinarian (fees apply).
Certificate must be completed at least 28 days after the dog’s initial rabies vaccine.
Once issued, the certificate is good for multiple U.S. entries for as long as the rabies vaccine is valid; 1 or 3 years.
Pet owners will need to submit a CDC Dog Import Form. This is submitted online, ideally 2 to 10 days before U.S. entry, or can be filled out while waiting in line at the border crossing. This form requires a photo of the dog including their face and whole body. It also requires the port of entry to be specified. There is no charge to submit this form.
Please note, the above requirements are only a brief summary, and apply only to those dogs who have received their current rabies vaccine in the United States. Additionally, this only applies to dogs who are traveling from countries deemed low-risk for rabies. For more details, please visit the CDC’s website:

Happy Travels!

Starting on August 1, 2024, dogs entering or returning to the United States must meet new, specific requirements depending on where they have been in the 6 months before entering the U.S. and where they received their rabies vaccines (if required).
