Surprise! If you’ve been wondering why we’ve been a little quiet this past week… now you know why.
We’re still pinching ourselves after an unforgettable weekend at the 2025 Pomsky Showdown.
We packed up the whole Southpaw crew—Reign, Calliope, Lavender, and little Fable—and drove 14 hours, not knowing what to expect and simply hoping to enjoy the experience, cheer on our fellow breeders, and show our support for this incredible community. We could never have imagined walking away with not just one… but six ribbons.
We came in humble and hopeful, just grateful for the chance to support the breed we love and spend time among so many talented dogs and breeders. We could never have imagined how this weekend would unfold.
🏆 Southpaw Long May He Reign “Reign”
First Place Mini Male 15+ months
Champion Dog Mini (all ages)
Reign’s win meant even more after hearing what the judge had to say. She spent several minutes commenting on how difficult his class was to judge, calling it one of the most competitive groups she’s seen. Every dog in that ring, she said, represented the Pomsky standard with incredible consistency and quality. For Reign to rise to the top in a lineup like that? We couldn’t be prouder of our steady, stunning boy.
🏆 Southpaw Poetry in Motion “Calliope”
Second Place Mini Female 15+ months
Calliope stepped into the ring with half a coat and all heart. She went through a full-blown coat blowout just two weeks before the show. Most breeders wouldn’t dream of entering a dog without their full show coat, but we just didn’t have the heart to keep her out. She lives for this. The ring is her happy place, and she floated across the floor like it was made for her. To place in that condition? That’s grit, structure, and the heart of a true champion.
🏆 Southpaw Lavender Haze “Lavender”
First Place Mini Female 12–15 months
Reserve Champion Mini Female (all ages)
This was Lavender’s very first show as an adult, and gone is the awkward puppy stage. She stepped into the ring with grace, confidence, and maturity beyond her age. In her adult debut, she blew us away by making it all the way to the top and being crowned Champion Female Reserve. We couldn’t be more proud of our girl.
🏆 Southpaw Once Upon a Dream “Fable”
Second Place 3–6 Month Micro Female
This was Fable’s first time in the ring, and she absolutely shined. The only thing holding her back was a technicality. Due to puppy class registrations being based solely on weight, she was required to enter the micro division even though her height clearly placed her more appropriately in the mini class. The judge told us, “If that’s not a mini Husky, I don’t know what is.” We know her time is coming, and when she’s placed where she truly belongs, she’s going to make waves.
We’re heading home with full hearts and more gratitude than we can put into words.
To Maine Aim Ranch and the entire team, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for hosting such a well-run, welcoming, and passionate event. Every detail was thoughtfully done, and it means so much to be part of something that celebrates the future of this breed so beautifully.
And to AKC Judge Amy Gau, your presence was a true gift. Thank you for your time, your wisdom, and your care in evaluating each dog with such professionalism. Your insights are helping pave the way for Pomskies to move one step closer to full AKC recognition, and we’re honored to have had the chance to learn from you.
This weekend was a reminder of why we do this. Not for the ribbons, but for the love of the breed, the camaraderie, and the chance to be part of something bigger than ourselves.
