It’s that time of year again… Volunteer “artists” needed!!!👨‍🎨👩‍🎨

You do NOT have to be an actual artist to participate. What makes this fun is that the “artists” are not real artists at all.

In a nutshell, here’s how it works: donors will send us a photo of their pet and our volunteer will send the pic to a random volunteer “artist.” Once the portrait is done, they’ll snap a good pic of it and send the photo of the portrait back!

🔸Kids 8 and up can participate!

🔹You can draw, make digital portraits, paint, or use any other medium.

🔸The only requirement is that you’re able to get the finished portraits returned to us within 3 days.

🔹If you’re a professional artist and think it’ll take longer than 3 days to complete, that’s no problem! Just let us know ahead of time.

EHT Annual Rabies Clinic is being held on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at the EHT Public Works Building, 6120 Mill Road, Egg Harbor Township, NJ.

Update 3.16.23: These two are still looking for a new home.

Here is what Hugs & Kisses family has to say: Hugs (grey) and Kisses (black) are Maltese Pomeranian mix. They are 10 years old. They were born in March 2012 from the same litter. They have been with us and together since they were about 6 weeks and are bonded. They need to be adopted together. Kisses was neutered but, according to the vet, Hug's gentleman parts never distended and we did not want to risk the complicated surgery it would have taken. As small dogs they love people. Their parents- mother is 22 years old and healthy and father passed at age 21. They are healthy (but we have not kept up with their shots). They do, however have a diet that consist of canned salmon, carrots, rice, chicken rice soup, and bone broth. They, when their blood sugar goes down, have mild seizures (a little syrup on the tongue settles that right down). Kisses loves to cuddle and will stay there all day if you let him. Hugs will stay for a little while and then find his own space. Hugs love all of the attention and will push Kisses out of the way if he sees someone paying more attention to kisses. Kisses won't argue, he just waits his turn.

The dogs were for our girls and they are in college and away from the house. My husband and I work all day and don't have time to spend with them. We feel bad, but pray for a loving home where they can stay together. we just want to do what’s best for them.

Good 🌞 morning, we were recently contacted by a client of ours whose dog 🐶was hit by a car 🚙 3 weeks ago. ..this owner loves her dog and her only option now is to 🏨 amputate. 😢 This dog was adopted 5 years ago from our local Atlantic County Animal Shelter and is best friends with the family children. Unfortunately, we are not able to accommodate this surgery at our 🏥 location. We transferred her to Dr. Ritter at All Paws in Mayslanding. The surgery is is scheduled for Tuesday morning. If anyone can donate to this go fund me page for Lucky we would appreciate any help. 🐾🫶🏻🐾

Imagine if this was your view. Day in and day out people would come by and stand in front of your cage and stare at you. They would tell you to sshhh if you barked. They would laugh if you ran around frantically. Some would cry if you looked sad. Imagine people reading the info on your cage and just moving on. Imagine being on display like furniture in a storefront. Can you imagine?

Dogs that are in a shelter cage can feel scared and vulnerable. They often times are anxious and depressed. When looking for a forever family member please take all of this into consideration. Spend time with the dogs outside of their cages. Choose based on your time together...not on what you see through those bars. Shelter life is not real life. Cages can make the gentlest soul appear "crazy" or "aggressive" simply because he is scared.

When visiting a shelter or a pound please be aware of the broken hearts in those cages. Show them respect. If a particular dog acts up when you are in front of his cage please move on. He doesn't want to be on display and has nowhere to hide. Teach your children not to taunt the dogs by running or jumping around. This always leads to more chaos and stress for all.

Shelter dogs had families at one time just like you and I. Each of them has had their lives turned upside down through no fault of their own. Imagine being let down by humans over and over.
Put yourself in their place.
