The saddle below was used by one of the first cowboys of the silent film era Mr. William S Hart. The saddle was purchased from his estate by my friend Rex Cauble, I took these photos while it was displayed in his last Cutter Bill Western store in Jacksboro,Texas. See other attachments that describe the saddle in detail along with the saddle maker.

The link below will take you to the last silent movie done by William S Hart in 1925. He reissued the movie in 1939, before the movie starts he speaks and gives his farewell to the screen. This is the first silent movie I have watched, these guys can REALLY ride a horse (no stunt doubles) and it is quite amazing to see how the cattle looked back then compared to today.

Seventeen years ago Lisa and myself were in Anaheim,CA at the Disneyland Hotel for the 2003 AQHA Convention. Sunday March 3, 2003 the Hall of Fame Inductions & Legacy Awards were held to recognize the newest memebers of the AQHA Hall of Fame. Pictured L - R : Lisa Moreland, Reynolds Moreland III, Hub Baker (President Cowtown Coliseum, Fort Worth, Texas) Ana Cauble, Rex C. Cauble (Owner of Cutter Bill), Steve Murrin "Mayor of the Fort Worth Stockyards" & Reagan Bruton.

After meeting with Rex Cauble in 2001 and with his permission I nominated Cutter Bill for the AQHA Hall of Fame. In 2002 we both received confirmation Cutter Bill had been selected to join other quarter horse legends in the Hall of Fame. Rex invited me and Lisa to set at his table to see him accept this award for Cutter Bill. It was a night we will never forget, we met several people that night. Al Dunning and Carol Rose are a couple folks that I had read about for years and had the opportunity to meet them and chat with them that evening.

In the video below you will see the entire award ceremony for Cutter Bill and the last public appearance for Rex Cauble. Rex would pass away two months later, June 23, 2003. Rex will talk about his 1962 Non Pro World Championship he won on Cutter Bill and the day he had to put down Cutter Bill. At 89 years old he accepted this award and spoke without writing a word on paper. For one night Rex C. Cauble was back on top of the world and we were happy to be there to see it.

Pictured in the two photos below are Cutter Bill, Rex C. Cauble and Little Joe Cartwright (Michael Landon for those of you to young to remember Bonanza) Rex told me this was for a birthday party held at a hotel in Houston,Tx. They had to put Cutter Bill on an elevator to get him on one of the top floors of the hotel where the party was being held, Cutter Bill didn't like steps. Anyway, he said the kids were giving Cutter Bill so much attention Landon got mad and left the party. He took this horse everywhere. He told me about the first time he flew Cutter Bill across the country, Rex had to sign a document stating if the horse became unmanageable at anytime during the flight they would put the horse down. Rex said he slept right beside him on the plane to ensure Cutter Bill was safe.

Two of a Kind.....

I DO NOT post this because of what happened 4 years ago today, I do not post this for people to tell me they are sorry. We are way past that, I am way past that. I post this because I am one of the lucky ones. Not because of what we have or personal items left behind. EVERY DAY I use knowledge that was passed on to me from working with my dad, something that is more valuable than any material item or any amount of money. I am lucky to grow up the son of a combat veteran which means you don't ever say NEVER and you WILL find a way. Don't complain about the weather or things you cant control, imagine walking through the jungle carrying 80 LBS of supplies and enough ammunition to take down the enemy on your back while being sprayed with Agent Orange from overhead, in RECON you are the hunter and the hunted. You then might have something to complain about. I am lucky my dad bought a Cutter Bill grandson, the good people we have met over the years because of our cutting horses and friends we have today would never have happened. I am lucky that I have no regrets about anything I did at any point in my life to help my dad the same as he helped me. I am lucky to have had the opportunity to be there right until the new beginning. I am lucky we had the opportunity to talk and agreed we would not let cancer dictate our lives, we would not and will not let it win......

Pictured is past AQHA president Mr. R.L. Underwood (standing beside Cutter Bill), Mr. Underwood who is most noted for holding an organizational meeting at his ranch in 1939 to lay the foundation of the American Quarter Horse Association because he thought quarter horses should have their own registry. The two stallions pictured owned by Mr. Underwood are Dexter and Buddy Dexter, the sire of Cutter Bill. Cutter Bill was line bred, Mr. Underwood bred Dexter to March and produced a filly Little March. He then bred Dexter back to his own daughter Little March that produced Buddy Dexter. Buddy Dexter was crossed on a Palomino mare Billie Silvertone that produced Cutter Bill in 1955.

Along with facilities to work our performance horses the main focus over the last several years has been our cattle. We have a 17,000 square foot feeding and handling facility where we can feed over 140 head of cows and calves under roof. We have over 8,000 square feet of hay storage that has a capacity of 500 rolls of hay under roof. We have a very efficient design to feed our cattle which results in little to no feed waste, less stress on the animals and allows us to give our cattle excellent care. This in turn increases weight gain for our calves and along with our vaccination program using modified live vaccines for both cows and calves increases our profits by decreasing the chances of sick calves and improves conception rates for our mom cows.

Life is pretty simple....think about this.

You reap what you sow, more than you sow, and later than you sow.
