****RIP Candy****
This horse was our little pony loving girls true "heart horse" and was truly a living angel to Sam. She did whatever was asked. She put up with more than most horses ever would. She truly lived for Sam! She was truly her horse!
I purchased Candy about 10 years ago so I could start barrel racing again. The guy that sold her to me told me she was about 10-15 years old. She was quite feisty so I knew why he was selling her. I bought her and sent her off to a trainer to get tuned up. She was a very good barrel and pole horse. I only ran her a few years and then I retired her. Turns out she was older then what I was told. The vet has said she has been in her "30's" for probably the last 5 plus years.
But old Candy didn't stay retired long. Sam thought she wanted Candy to ride, and at first we were a little scared, Candy use to only have the fast gears and no slow going. Slowly over time, those two bonded and a started competing in playdays together. They even won a barrel competition together and brought home some cash. There bond was amazing. Candy was so young and full of life when they were together. They both always had so much fun together. That horse lived every second of her life for that little girl. But Candy's age started to show more and more. We did everything we could to extend her life as long as possible.
Now the sad part of the story...
Candy has a certain spot she eats at every day and waits on Sam or I to feed her. That's where she passed at on Christmas morning. To see the look on her face hurt so so bad.
RIP Candy .... you will be missed more than you will ever know!!!
