Day 2 is underway, we are transporting 58 stray cats today …thank you so much Angela's Klever K9s for sponsoring the drive today! You’re amazing! 😻 ALL of these cats will be fixed, fully vetted, microchipped , ear tipped, and then returned back to where they came from. They will be free to live their lives without adding to the overwhelming cat population 😻 Thanks Greater Good Charities for making this possible. Without programs like this, we would not be able to do this. Also BIG shout out to our local trappers and community members who have activated and made this the MOST successful event to date. So far in two days, we have trapped 89 cats. 😻🙌🏽😻
Trapping has begun! Here is a ‘HOW TO’ for everyone borrowing the black traps. Please watch and fill out the “trap check out” sheet. Thanks volunteers and trappers!

Meet “ACHILLES” 💚🩵
MEET Achilles ! 💚 This adorable green eyed gentleman is available for adoption through McAlester Trap and Release. Please share so we can help him find an amazing home. We were alerted to him by a caring citizen who caught him and brought him to us. He has been assessed and fixed and found that his Achilles tendon is torn. He will need an adopter who is willing to keep him inside until a plan is in place for his recovery. Will be at our adoption event this Saturday from 2 to 5 at BierKraft
Travis and Taylor are looking for their forever homes! 🩷🩵 They are UTD on vax and dewormed. Ready for years of love and play. Travis isn’t scared of anything, loves cuddles and dogs and Taylor is small and adorable. They are siblings but could be separated. Text 480-221-4353 if you’re interested in adopting
We noticed a tiny hole in our sweet new foster kitten and lo and behold a creature was living in there. In 20 years of Rescue, I’ve never seen this. Warbles are real… and gross 🤮
Poor tiny kitten with Warbles. 🤢
Warning!‼️ GRAPHIC CONTENT! Not for the squeamish! 🤢🐛🫣🙀 Bot fly larve / WARBLES
We were asked to take several mama cats and their kittens who were dumped. We know nothing about how they got there. But they needed help.
When we take in cats, kittens or pups into Foster Care, we take their care very seriously and become financially responsible for everything that comes along with them. From food, to medical, vaccinations, spay and neuter and everything thing in between.
In this case, we noticed a tiny hole in one of the baby kittens and went to the vet. 7 of the fosters were infected with these bot fly larvae, a condition known as WARBLES. In 20 years of rescue I’ve never seen this, but found out it’s common in this area especially in higher temperature months.
Apparently what happens is … the mama cat gives birth or moves her kittens near a rabbit burrow, the parasite is in the ground and finds its way onto the kittens confusing the kittens for a bunny. The parasite later grows into this fat little worm and creates a tiny hole to breathe. Once it does that it can been seen and extracted. If it is not extracted, it will push its way out of the kitten weeks later when it grows to a full-size fly.
All of the kittens that were affected have been treated and are now on antibiotics recovering. Luckily the nasty little hitchhikers are gone, but this is definitely a learning experience for us and anyone with outdoor pets. 🥴
Here’s ‘BIG WALMART TOM’ Being returned to his colony. He’s the last of 88 cats from our HUGE Spay and Neuter event last weekend. BIG TOM is back to his old stomping grounds with a little less weight than before. 🥜✂️We also trapped and fixed 2 elusive females. 🙌🏽 #tnrworks #mcalestertnr #mcalesteroklahoma #straycats #tnr
