Nolana Animal Hospital (NAH) was opened in 1975 by Steve Bentsen. Since then, fourteen veterinarians have practiced at NAH. Currently

At that time Nolana Loop defined the northern edge of town and NAH was the first building on Nolana east of Tenth Street. From the beginning, our approach to veterinary medicine has been quality rather than quantity. We have continuously upgraded the quality and variety of services that we offer. In addition to operating a full-service hospital for our regular clientele, we offer specialty service

s in surgery, internal medicine, radiology and dermatology. A significant portion of our business comes by way of referrals from other veterinarians across south Texas and northern Mexico. Andy Baker began his association with NAH as a visiting surgeon, coming from Houston on a regular basis to do surgical procedures which were not available in the Valley at that time. In 1989 Dr. Baker became a full-time partner at NAH. Today the practice is owned and operated by Drs. Bentsen and Baker as a member hospital of the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA). Dave Brown joined the NAH team as an associate veterinarian in 2003. The NAH family is proud of our practice and we enjoy what we do.

This gentle giant came in for a Neuter and Gastropexy with Dr. Ramos. A gastropexy is a surgical procedure that attaches a dogs stomach to its abdominal wall to prevent the stomach from twisting. It’s usually done on large deep chested dogs to prevent GDV also known as bloat.

Don’t forget the Bordetella vaccine! With the Holiday season creeping up around the corner, if you are planning on traveling or boarding your fur babies it’s important to have them updated on vaccines. Bordetella or its more common name Kennel Cough is a non core but important vaccine given to dogs that have frequent exposure to other dogs via dog parks, boarding kennels, training classes etc. Call the office to set up an appointment to get your babies on the right track to a safe holiday season.
