We grew up close to where we live now. We married right out of High school and have been married for 30 years. We have raised three boys, which are all grown and starting their own adventures. All our dogs have awesome temperaments, calm and eager to please. They also come from health tested parents and layered with champion lines. These are our companions, they are part of our family, spoiled lik

e our children. They live inside our home and are well taken care of at all times. We work very hard at maintaining their coats. Just so that they are always clean and ready for work in the community. We have earned CGC, CGCA, CGCC, CGCU titles and recently added Trick Dog Novice (TDN) to our titles (canine good citizen AND advanced, Community, Urban). They are active certified TDI therapy dogs and have recently acquired certification for working as a Therapy dog team. We are very proud of our girls and their hard work. It takes smarts, balance, well mannered, kind, and gentle dogs to complete and pass the courses required to hold these titles. My dogs love to service our community when their harness goes on they are excited to do their job. We hope that you will choose us as your breeder. Looking for adult dogs? We have a few that are gonna become available. They will be fixed prior to leaving. They will be retired from my program. The market for puppies is slow. There really isn't a need for all these adult females. It's time to shorten my to do list for grooming all of them. Most my dogs have had very little contact with children. We don't have any here an I don't have grand kids. The children our puppies meet our my neighbors neices and are here for puppies so my adults are locked up. I have a few that would do well with kids, others I would not place in a home with children. See my website for available adults. Cost varies because of age, testing and the dogs training.. Reserved—Caterpillar (Kat) enjoyed a walk in the park yesterday. We went to the childrens park. Where they beat on drums, an ring a ton of bells. She handled it like she'd been there.
She came home an still wanted to play tug of war with her brother.

Our next up an coming show prospect. He is from our Bugs litter. Meet Northern Creek's Made in Michigan aka Faygo. Parents- Northern Creeks Under My UmbrElla and AKC CH Kaylens Chaseton Mr. Mcgehee. Ella retired from our breeding program. Leaving us with two beautiful prospects and a wonderful legacy to move forward with. Thank you to the sires Owner, Jill for allowing us to make these beautiful puppies.. . Faygo has waited 6 months to finally be announced as my keeper. I just adore his personality. I see his obedient nature and hunting skills from his mother. He made a debut at UKC premier taking second in his class of much older puppies. He made his first official weekend show in Corunna MI winning his weekend show 1 and 2 with best of breed. Thank you to the Landers judges for seeing him in a line up of 7. A huge thank you for the guidance, help, mad grooming skills and friendship from Sarah Bertouille. Your a life long friend. I've learned so much over the last 3 years. I appreciate you more then you will ever know. I couldn't have done this without you. He will soon debut in AKC show hoping for a very successful week. Stay tune!

I just interviewed Jean Donaldson for a podcast and it came up that it's a "thing" now for some puppy classes to not allow puppy play time. I guess the thought is that the puppies should be paying attention and learning to be controlled, not learning that other dogs are fun and good.

I do not agree with this and would not recommend a class for YOUNG puppies that does not include play time. But some points:

1. As I mention in the Be Your Puppy's Advocate booklet, https://bit.ly/PUPPYSADVOCATE, group play should only be for puppies under 12 weeks old, possibly a bit older for neotenous breeds. Puppies older than that should play only in pairs and the pairs should be selected for compatibility. There is little risk of real aggression with puppies under 12 weeks old, but that changes rapidly as the puppies exit the critical socialization period.

2. As Dr. Bright talks about in Puppy Culture https://bit.ly/PUPPYCULTUREVOD, one of the big benefits of a play and learn puppy class is that the puppy learns transitions...now we do this, now we do that. We ramp up and play, we ramp down and relax, we focus. Dr. Bright talks about how it's these transitions that can get adult dogs into trouble and how important it is to shape the ability to transition between different modes while the puppies are still very young and malleable.

3. No one ever returned a dog to a breeder or a shelter because the dog liked other dogs too much. But dogs get returned or relinquished all the time because of dog aggression. So, absolutely, find a puppy class that includes puppy play time (for puppies under 12 weeks old, play in pairs for older puppies).

Hard to believe I live with all them. Really hard when its time to groom them all again. The littles are now integrated into the pack to learn manners. Their momma Ella gets after them for the jumping. Today they learned fetch means bring it back. Lol

Reserved—Kat-erpillar--I have been looking for a home for this special girl. I held two back an come to a final decision one has to go. It's impossible to grow coat with brother an sister hanging off each other. I will keep showing her until we find the right home. She is eager to please. She is a great service dog prospect scoring in the 3s and 4s. She is on the needy side. Her love for attention. She has terrific eye contact and very obedient. She would excel in rally. She would also do well in performance.. My plan has always been to keep my service prospects and train until the right match comes along..She's fully vaccinated, Rabies, microchiped, AKC limited registration, she sleeps in a crate all night and rides in the car well. Kat has a wonderful recall, she will sit on command and walks well on a leash. She is the same price I charge for my 11 week old puppies which are not fully vaccinated or nearly as trained as she

Our Lady Bug found a perfect place to call home. She headed to Traverse City, MI with a wonderful couple. She just loves all the attention she is getting. They did decide to rename her Maddie after a few days thought. It's a wonderful change for her. A name of her own.

Leptospirosis
What is it?
It is dangerous and every dog that goes outside can get it. Here at Northern Creek we utilize the vaccine to help protect our dogs from the standing water from rain or the creek. Even the animals like rabbits, skunks, raccoons, and deer can bring it into your yard. Don’t tell me you don’t have critters…It is incredibly expensive to treat if you make it to the veterinarian.

Last week one of our puppies from the Bugs litter was diagnosed with lepto. Three days of hospitalization with IV fluids and antibiotics and multiple CBC blood draws to compare liver and kidney levels. His was off the scale for 2 days before it came down.
The veterinarian was guarded in his prognosis because they had over 100 cases that only 3 survived because parents wait too long and some dogs come in with yellow skin. If your dog is yellow there is a issue. If you’re not going to vaccinate for some of the strains atleast be observant when your pet has not eaten or isn’t acting themselves.
Lucky for this little 5 month old his parents were observant and rushed him into the ER for help. The local vet failed them so if you ever doubt what your told by a local vet seek another opinion had they not done that this little guy may not have made it through this ordeal.
Knowledge is power!
Please do your homework on vaccines before you see your veterinarian. Know which ones prevent an illness. Refuse the extras that don’t prevent sickness. They sell a few to unsuspecting families. It’s sad but it happened in this case.

We vaccinate for leptospirosis it protects them from a few strains of this disease. The reaction to a vaccines doesn’t out weigh it’s protection. It gives me peace of mind they are protected.

The little guy is finally home but he is in quarantine for a long while and will need blood work to monitor his kidney and liver for damages from the disease. Such a young pup that can’t just be a dog an go out to a park for walks. I’m so sad this happened. I’m thankful he will heal from this but it will take time before we know what damage was done.

In 6 months I will be asking again for 5 deposits. We are sad to say I am just not comfortable having a litter without committed families. It cost too much to keep them until they are 6 months and still sell them for the same price I sell my puppies for. Maybe 2025 will bring better timing.

It comes down to one day left and a travel to Kentucky for me. Are you sure in 4 months your not ready to add a puppy to your family? I need 3 more families to breed for this litter.

Zahara came into season a month earlier then I expected. I do not have enough deposits to move forward with this litter for winter. It will be February before she or any of the girls come back into season. Meaning no puppies until April. I guess I'll be on a 6 month vacation of sorts. Reserved--LadyBug is 5 months old still waiting for her forever home. This will be our only litter this year! I have skipped heat cycles that would have given us those fall babies or winter 2025. It is irresponsible to breed for another litter. When I still have puppies looking for homes. I'm just shocked! Over 1000 people on this page an not one to take this beautiful baby girl an give her a terrific home. Sorry I'm not one of those breeders that breed for every season regardless if they have puppies without homes. Most likely, they live in a barn not in a home..One last ditch effort to place her. She has been reduced but not for much longer. Pet only home

This weekend I'm at the Corunna Fairgrounds with one of our puppies from this current litter.... Well this baby won best of breed in both rings today. We are waiting for best in show ring.

Well today is no different then any other day here. Saving the critters from the dogs. Today Petra brought a turtle up from the creek. Cricket isn't too sure what to do with it. I've saved 3 baby birds that haven't quit learned to fly. There was 2 bunnies for the morning snack from our hunters. It's one thing for a cat to bring gifts, but I have poodles that do the same. Cricket has absolutely NO hunt instinct but her mom Jayda surely does.

Reserved--Why is this beautiful girl not in a home yet? LadyBug is all clean up. She's going on 5 months old. Fully potty trained, sleeps in her crate all night, travels in a car well. She's mastered sit, wait, leave it, walks on lead and is working on down. She absolutely loves to jump. This quirky sweet gal has quit the personality. The house clown will always keep you entertain. She

These days I've been overwhelmed with scams or breeders trying to poach and last but not least someone trying to Highjack my business page. It's a daily war and terribly discouraging that this world has become this way. All photos have always been watermarked to protect my program. They are copywrited by Northern Creek Standards LLC. It's frustrating to have someone else claim our puppies an hard work as their own. I have seen other breeders struggle with losing their pages. I've been extremely lax in the last few months with my watermarked photographs. I've been busy keeping my page clear of these scams. I have been watching my count climb on followers some are foreign some don't have real posts. It just takes time away from what I really need to be doing. So if you see a post of poaching in the comments let me know immediately. I need help protecting our page. I'd hate to loose it. Thank you

Our sweet Walker aka Vernon is learning. I just love to see these enrichment activities. This teaches him to use his nose. It teaches persistence gets the job done. Thank you Ashely for sending us an update.

Enjoying the great weather today.

Took some puppies for a little walk in the park. Lady Bug is with the gal in the pink. She's hoping for someone to discover her. We just want forward motion. They have never been here an never walked by someone different. They greeted people passing by I'm super happy with how well they behave for the kids.

It will be another wonderful warm day. I captured a few videos yesterday of our Ella an the remaining puppies playing..This is Lucky Lady and our boy Dobson...

Someone from the last litter left a whole. So this crew thinks it's fun to finish the job. They are working hard..Volhard testing was done today. They all did terrific. See our website for more information.

This is Mr Hobbs learning to walk away from his safe pen with all his siblings at the door, an follow his human. We also did the driveway with him an everyone else. They did terrific for their first walk-a-bout..

These babies just turned 6 weeks. This little boy is Walker. He is learning to free walk outside of the everyday pen. All new surroundings, traffic and gravel driveway. No other dogs to help him go forward. Just his need to come to me. We do a lot of work with them before they leave here. We have already started open crate training since they were 4 weeks old. Most days potty is outside. This here is my favorite stage. I love teaching. Preparing them for life. Teaching all the sights and sounds of everyday adventures. I will start loose leash work next week. I have over 500 followers on this page. Please share our puppies so they can have homes when they are ready to go the end of April. Thank you

Our little bugs are laying on the puppy kisses an cuteness today. Thank you Marcia for bringing some more kids to help socialize my puppies. It's always fun to watch.

More morning playtime! Five left others went for a nap.

Our morning play an the introduction to our tiny tunnel. Some showed interest. The others ignored its existence. So exciting they are growing up so fast.

The fun is just beginning. My favorite age. They learn so much so fast. Today we made their place alittle bigger. We are still learning where to potty.
