This is amazing guys. I can’t thank the people of the Vineyard enough. It looks like in under a week we will have gone from a Facebook post to putting needed supplies in peoples hands from over 1000 miles away. Thank you Vineyard Community

Islanders are organizing a supply run to help communities devastated by Hurricane Helene in South Carolina and Georgia. Supplies, gathered on Sunday at the Legion Hall, will be driven to 2009 graduate of Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School Ben Ferry who will help distribute goods to those in ne...

The call for help came from Georgia on Friday night. By Sunday afternoon, half the American Legion Hall in Vineyard Haven was filled with supplies destined for states reeling from the devastation of Hurricane Helene.

I tried to write something a few times about this and I just don’t know what to say. Back Paddle has really helped me become part of the community and it is where I have met most of my closest friends since moving here alone two years ago. Kyle McCloud and Emily McCloud have been the people on the front lines spear heading the recovery effort for the rural communities around us. When they got a generator they offered their home to people for a feeling of normal and some hot food. I am honored to be able to call them friends. Know them there will be something bigger and better to come and no doubt the community will be the better for it.

We have made the difficult decision to end the Back Paddle journey this week. While this year’s economic impacts proved difficult prior to the storm, we remained hopeful that we'd finish 2024 our strong and enter 2025 ready to kick butt.

Unfortunately, the storm cut power to our facility long enough for our beer to go bad (we gave away what food we could).

Recovery would take weeks of additional closure plus costs that we just aren’t able to cover.

This does not change our commitment or love for our community here in Lincoln County and beyond.

We can’t thank our community enough for four amazing years.

Please keep our staff in your thoughts, they are all amazing.

Controversy surrounds the efficacy and welfare implications of different forms of dog training with several studies asserting that electronic shock collars have negative welfare impacts while not being more effective than non-aversive methods. Gus wanted to take a trip to Back Paddle Brewing today before he heads home in a week from his 4 week On and Off leash board and train program. Gus was a little nervous and overstimulated at first but settled in quickly.
