Humane Society of McCormick County

Humane Society of McCormick County No-kill rescue for homeless cats and dogs in McCormick County. Adopt into loving homes. All-volunteer We offer low-cost spay to any cat or dog in the County.

The Humane Society of McCormick County is a no-kill animal rescue. We pick up homeless cats and dogs and find them loving homes. We are 100% funded by donations, grants and money raised through fundraising activities. All money raised goes to helping animals because we are all volunteers. The county does not have a county-run shelter. We care for the dogs and cats that would otherwise have no other place to go.

We had a great update on Indigo and Iris that were adopted together.

Indigo's new name is "Kuro" which means "black" in Japanese and Iris' new name is "Noire" which means "black" in French! They both respond to their new names already!

Kuro is his new Dad’s shadow and follows him around and loves belly rubs and playing with a feather toy! Noire had to be spayed and came home 9 days after Kuro had arrived. At first, she was a little stand-offish and would hiss at Kuro. Kuro just wanted to play and was patient with Noire and with some feather fun and a few servings of snacks, she came around. They have both settled in and are now bonded. Both littermates are great lap kitties and love to be petted and love belly rubs.

Delilah enjoyed a few hours away from the shelter when a volunteer took her home for a visit. This is what she learned about her:

1) She rides well in the car.
2) She was not fond about getting a bath but she survived.
3) She was not afraid of the stairs
4) She peed and pooped outside when we walked.
5) She prefers a couch over a dog bed. 😃
6) She is not sure about the TV.
7) Doesn't mind her ears & paws touched.
😎 Likes to cuddle on the couch 🛋️.
9) She is a sport ; let me dress her up.

If you would like to meet Delilah, please contact us at [email protected]. You can read more about her: https://www.hsmcsc.org/adopt/our-dogs/delilah

Update: We took this pup to the vet because he was holding up his leg. Luckily nothing was broken and they found a microchip that had migrated to the side. The Owner was located and he was returned to them in Greenwood. That pup has been missing for 4 days and was obviously transported to McCormick by someone. Microchips work!!

Found dog: McCormick (McCormick County, SC)
This small terrier, approx. 15 lbs, was found loose on S. Cherry St. this morning. It was reported to sheriff's office. Please contact us at [email protected] to claim.
