League City Pets Alive aka Friends of League City Animal Shelter Celebrating 14 years of Advocacy and Action for the animals of League City to continue to be no kill

We save dogs and cats other shelters might euthanize for lack of funds. League City Pets Alive funds most of the non-emergency veterinary care the League City Animal Shelter animals receive. Heartworm treatment/prevention, diagnostic testing, medications, medical supplies, flea prevention, food and formula for fostering fragile puppies and kittens. We accomplish this by being a non profit, having

tireless supporters, and an incredibly generous Facebook community. In 12 years we have forged many partnerships and coalitions. We are Adoption Partners with PetSmart, PETCO, and Pet Supplies Plus, in five stores throughout League City and Clear Lake. We have adoptable cats at these stores and are always looking for additional volunteers. When a dog or cat catch the attention of a person willing to spearhead a fundraiser you will see an article on Facebook and Cuddly.com. They have raised thousands of dollars to treat the animal's condition enabling the dog or cat be adopted and live a long, pain free life.

Welcome new boy Smokey to Petco League City! Watch his bubbly personality on full display as he plays with his favorite toys-metallic balls, spring toys and kitty teasers. He will carry them around and meow to make sure you are still in the game. An altogether lovely and easy to handle 4-1/2 month-old kitten who purrs when you hold him and has a perfectly pastel pink nose and lips. PSPCL - senior cat Vana Sprite was adopted by a retired dog show handler and her husband! Their daughter, a major cat lover, provided support as did foster Liz, who had Vana for five months while she waited for a home! Perfect pairing of cat and household! Senior cat adoptions ROCK!

Way to Close Out a Year!! Or, Shy Boy Kitty Goes Home... Brother to Follow!

Shy, sweet JERRY, just brought to the condos at the League City Petsmart, was seeking out hiding places in his new surroundings. But he would snuggle, make biscuits, and give kisses when petted and loved on. After a little time tucked (self-imposed) in the safety of the toy box, Jerry received a visit from a sweet family. When asked if they were looking to adopt a kitty, their response was a slightly guarded, “Well, we are just at the very first stage of looking right now”, to which the volunteer responded, “Would you like to come in and meet Jerry?!”
They said “sure” & the 11-yr old daughter was most enthusiastic, of course! Shy Jerry went from hiding to loving the attention of each of them to playing to and....to going home with them!
But wait! There’s more! Since there was a comment on Jerry's kennel card about his brother, Billy Bob, the family asked where he was. Billy Bob was at Petsmart in Clear Lake. After seeing his photos and reading his bio, they said they wanted to adopt them both—today!!! Jerry went home with new mom, and dad was going back for BILLY BOB! A truly wonderful day! Mary, their foster was “over the moon!" Jerry went from being scared to deciding these people had his best interests at heart. Falling in love with the youngest person, who is eleven, he threw his fear away and decided he could be the best cat they could find...and so it was.

Rusty wasn't at the condos at Pet Supplies Plus in Clear Lake long before he was seen by his adopter, who fell in love with him. She wrote a wonderful email thanking us for what we do at LCPA!

From Rusty's adopter: "Thank you for helping us with this (adoption) process. I have missed having a kitty in the house. Rusty, now Inky, seems to be adjusting well. He and his doggie sister Sega have taken to each other well. Thanks again!" This is why we are dedicated to do what we do!

Pet supply store adoptable condo cat Sassy recently went to an extended holiday pajama party! She was the only cat invited and she got spend the Thanksgiving holidays with a LCPA volunteer. Turns out the eight-month-old girl was a most excellent houseguest. She quickly settled in the guest room and filled the air with the sound of her sweet meows. A lover of head rubs, she will make 'biscuits' in a show of contentment.
