League City Pets Alive aka Friends of League City Animal Shelter Celebrating 14 years of Advocacy and Action for the animals of League City to continue to be no kill

We save dogs and cats other shelters might euthanize for lack of funds. League City Pets Alive funds most of the non-emergency veterinary care the League City Animal Shelter animals receive. Heartworm treatment/prevention, diagnostic testing, medications, medical supplies, flea prevention, food and formula for fostering fragile puppies and kittens. We accomplish this by being a non profit, having

tireless supporters, and an incredibly generous Facebook community. In 12 years we have forged many partnerships and coalitions. We are Adoption Partners with PetSmart, PETCO, and Pet Supplies Plus, in five stores throughout League City and Clear Lake. We have adoptable cats at these stores and are always looking for additional volunteers. When a dog or cat catch the attention of a person willing to spearhead a fundraiser you will see an article on Facebook and Cuddly.com. They have raised thousands of dollars to treat the animal's condition enabling the dog or cat be adopted and live a long, pain free life.

From a kitty Condo Krewe Volunteer at League City Petco. 'Simba was back to his usual spring toy chasing self this morning. I changed the game so he didn't know which path the spring would follow- through the cat tunnel, way up high in the air, bouncing off the sides of the wall or rolling straight to him. I also added 1..2..3 to give him that crazy sense of anticipation. I love to challenge myself to make up new games with their favorite toys. This in turn, challenges the cat! He threw me a new game by wanting to play with the track toy. We did it... together. Great way to start the morning.'

This past Saturday, an adoption event was held at the Petco in Kemah. Featured kittens were Ember, Kismet and Pippin. Although no kittens were adopted on Saturday, Kismet was adopted on Sunday! This was a great chance for LCPA to share with the public who we are, what we do, and have information available for potential volunteers! Information on area vet clinics providing low cost spay/neuter and other services was also available. Volunteers for the event (left to right) were: Tammy, Christina, store manager Jaime, Julie and Jennifer. Great job putting the event together and staffing it!

Turns out the eight-month-old girl was a most excellent houseguest. She quickly settled in the guest room and filled the air with the sound of her sweet meows. A lover of head rubs, she will make 'biscuits' in a show of contentment.
