Due to no fault of their own, (mainly my tardiness in responding to a mountain of inquiries) I still have some puppies here from my Sept. 9 litter. They turn 10 weeks old today. This large litter of nine kept me running. Personal things on top of a large property to manage, and horses and other Glens to care for, left me little "quiet time" to sit and read and respond to your emails and phone calls.
On top of that, I had several wonderful potential buyers back out for personal reasons of their own. I apologize to everyone whom I have not responded to. I take the puppy placement interview process very seriously and it takes time that I have had so little of these last two months.
If we have not already spoken and you would like to be considered for one of my brindle pups, please message me or send an email to [email protected]. A Puppy Application will need to be submitted, but we can have a brief chat before you need to do that. This is a pic of one of the pups taken just last evening.

Outside right now at 10:15pm, it’s cold and dark, 45F and spitting rain, but here in the stable it’s 60F, bright and clean and most importantly DRY and free from mud! Happy to have this indoor play area for the puppies who turn ten weeks old tomorrow on dreary November days like this. Before taking them back into the house they get a quick brushing to remove the wood shavings.

First puppy, Mr. Red, left today for his new home with Linda and Bob in NJ.
Linda met the Glens last year at the MTB event in NYC. We hope her boy, Finnbar, will volunteer there one day in the future.

GITCA Special Meeting
I strongly urge all GITCA members to attend the Special Meeting which will take place TOMORROW EVENING by Zoom on Thursday, October 17 at 8:00pm. I am asking that you participate to show your support of the Board's decision to create an Illustrated Standard for Glens.
The first two objects of the club as stated in our Constitution are:
a) To encourage and promote quality in the breeding of purebred Glen of Imaal Terriers and to do all possible to bring their natural qualities to perfection.
b) To promote and protect the integrity and the characteristics of the Glen of Imaal Terrier
This project falls directly in line with these objectives and has my full support. Thank you in advance for your participation!

In response to a petition from the membership… The GITCA board hereby gives formal notice of a Special Meeting to be held by Zoom. The purpose of this meeting is to address questions surrounding the GITCA Illustrated Standard project. As per bylaws, this Special Meeting will be limited to the topic outlined in the petition, and no other business may be conducted. The creation of an Illustrated Breed Standard is a significant undertaking that will influence the future of our breed for years to come. Ruthie's nine brindle puppies are growing and playing and doing great and I am finally caught up on my sleep! They are 5.5 weeks old and should be ready to head to their new homes around Nov. 9.
If you are interested in speaking with me about possibly getting a Glen puppy from this litter and we have not spoken yet, please email me at my farm address [email protected] so we can arrange a time to talk.
I have been horrible at responding to mail and emails since they were born and I apologize for that.
I have only promised a couple of the puppies so far and final decisions will have to wait until they are old enough to be evaluated for show potential at 7-8 weeks of age.

Congratulations to Darla and Sully on their fourth-place finish in the AKC 2024 NOHS (National Owner-Handler Series) Finals.
They finished the year with 305 points. This will earn them an invitation to compete in the finals competition in Orlando in December.
The Glens in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th places were all within 20-25 points of each other so this came down to the wire as the qualifying period ended on September 18, 2024.
Congratulations to all the NOHS finalists. It takes hard work and dedication to finish in the top 15.
Sully is Darla's first show dog and they have come so far in the last four years together. Well done, Darla & Sully!

The Glen of Imaal Terrier Club of America (GITCA), like all AKC Parent Clubs, has a Constitution and Bylaws. Ours is on our club website, www.Glens.org. It was approved by the AKC during our process of gaining recognition.
Under Article 1, Section 2, you will find the nine objects of the Club:
a) To encourage and promote quality in the breeding of purebred Glen of Imaal Terriers and to do all possible to bring their natural qualities to perfection.
b) To promote and protect the integrity and the characteristics of the Glen of Imaal Terrier
c) To guard against the commercial exploitation of the Glen of Imaal Terrier.
d) To urge members and breeders to accept the standard of the breed as approved by the American Kennel Club as the only standard of excellence by which the Glen of Imaal terrier shall be judged.
e) To do all in its power to protect and advance the interest of the breed and to encourage sportsmanlike competition at dog shows and other dog events.
f) To conduct and encourage participation in sanctioned matches, specialty shows, obedience trials, agility events, earth-dog events, and other dog related activities that are open to Glen of Imaal Terriers under the Rules and Regulations of The American Kennel Club, and to cooperate with the event-sponsoring Kennel Clubs and organizations according to their rules.
g) To work with breed clubs in other countries that are dedicated to the promotion of Glen of Imaal Terriers in ways that are compatible with the goals stated herein.
h) To disseminate educational information about the Glen of Imaal Terrier by appropriate media, including, but not limited to, a Club newsletter.
i) To safeguard and promote the improvement of the health of the Glen of Imaal Terrier.

Speaking not as the current vice president of the club, but as an Active member for 23 years, I support the board’s decision made earlier this year to create an Illustrated Standard. This important project strongly supports the first two objects in our constitution.
At an upcoming Special Meeting of the membership, the Illustrated Standard will be discussed.
I urge all GITCA members to attend that meeting so that you are aware of what’s happening with this important project.
