Those of you who know me well, know that fall is my favorite season of the year. This year, however, October has taken on a whole new meaning in my heart. It has even made me like a color that couldn't be further from my go to color of black. Did you guess it? Pink!
You may be wondering why, or you may already have a hunch.

On September 28th, I received news that no one is ever prepared to receive. I was told that I have breast cancer. I am young, active, and on the surface appeared to be perfectly healthy, which made this news absolutely shocking not only to me, but to both my husband and our 2 boys. However I know that I know that I know it will all be ok! I don't know what my treatment plan will look like yet. I am in the process of all the appointments, scans, labs, and discussions to determine what my best treatment options are. What I do know is I am extremely lucky. I’m lucky because "Harry" (this is what we've named the tumor) was caught at an early and very treatable stage and the doctors anticipate a positive outcome with treatment.

I have always said I was going to be fit and fab at 40, which is now only 2 moths away. In honor of this, I had already started some lifestyle changes, which included losing weight, changing my eating habits and getting "farm fit" with all my hard work at the barn! I wanted to share my personal news with the intention and hope of encouraging others to take their health seriously. Be sure to take your health in to your own hands and always listen to your body! Make preventative screenings a priority, as they can be life saving! Get screened, because the best protection is early detection!

Thank you for the outpouring of love and support that I have received since my diagnosis. I am so truly grateful!

My heart!

No words...... can share the way my heart, husband, Miss Kim and Miss Lorraine felt Saturday after a lesson with and 87 year young man named Jack!

Story: Jack's bride called us to see if we could get her husband back in the saddle 1 last time. I decided anything is possible! It was scary at first as he slowly climbed the mounting block with assistance. He tried once with no success and the look in his eyes was enough for us to try 1 more time. Allowing Jack to catch his breath and shortening the stirrups was the right combination to allow him to hoist himself ( along with a little support from my 6'4" hubby) to get his leg up and over to allow himself to be back in the saddle that he hadn't been in saddle in for 40 or 50 years. Jack's wife surprised him with this gift. However the real gift was Jack blessing us with his trust, determination and love for horses to allow us to make his wish come true. Not only is Mac one of the best horses out there, the team at R Double J Ranch is absolutely amazing. I truly have the best life.

Had a Sunday Family Funday at the Spring Grove Fun show. Even had a few of our own take some ribbons home! What a great day and good job to all that participated, came to lend a hand or came to cheer us on!

What a great weekend! Saturday our 1st official Barn Birthday party! A special 10 year old chose to celebrate it in the saddle with 6 other friends! We had a great time! Sunday funday a great time spent with our barn family! And last but not least hanging with my oldest having some one on one time helping momma take care of the horses these are the moments!
