The unforgettable heroism displayed by dogs following 9/11 will always be remembered. One iconic image that may come to mind is Riley being carefully transported across a 60-foot-deep debris canyon at the World Trade Center site. Like many other rescue dogs, Riley, a Golden Retriever skilled in search and rescue operations, sadly only found remains during his time at Ground Zero. As Riley became disheartened by the lack of survivors, his handler offered support and reassurance, acknowledging his efforts. While Riley didn't find survivors, he excelled in another critical role: providing solace and receiving affection from firefighters and police officers in the area.

Today, we commemorate this historic day by honoring both the human heroes and the four-legged heroes ❤️
