Marlee is a beautiful, deaf dog who proves that hearing isn't the only way to communicate love and connection. This 3-year-old, Australian Shepherd mix is looking for a home that will put in the work and training that a deaf dog needs to be successful in a home. During her time in foster care, she is already learning a good routine and how to exist with other dogs. We do think Marlee would do best with a calm dog that won't overwhelm or scare her.

Tiny Tim is hoping that the New Year means a NEW home! This 6-month-old, Beagle mix is ready to find his forever family very soon. He is spending time in foster care getting practice with leash walks and crate training. We think Tiny Tim has amazing potential!

This 21 lb. nugget really enjoys playgroups with other dogs. He hasn't had the opportunity to meet many cats in his adoption journey, but this sweet guy should have no problem given the right structure in place. New year, same mission! Rescuing animals in need has always been our top priority at BYC. We simply cannot continue without your help! Volunteering, fostering, and adopting are all crucial aspects of helping animals in need, and each plays a unique role in saving lives. Thank you to all the last minute shoppers who supported Because You Care at the gift wrapping station in the Millcreek Mall. Our wonderful volunteers were able to raise a grand total of $6,290 which directly supports animals at our center.

Thank you to our wonderful volunteer, Mary, that organizes the Gift Wrapping station every year - we couldn't do it without you!

If you have any extra supplies (wrapping paper, ribbon, etc.) that you would wish to donate to the fundraiser next year please drop off directly at the BYC Adoption Center, email [email protected] or call 814-431-2513 to arrange a pickup.

Elphaba and Glinda's story is sadly all too common, reflecting the unfortunate consequences of backyard breeding. These two sweet, nervous Wirehaired Terriers, only 7 months old, have clearly endured a lot, but it's evident that they still have so much potential for love and joy. Despite their small size at just 25 lbs., there's room for them to grow physically and emotionally.

They deserve to live the kind of life that allows them to shed their nervousness and bloom into the happy, well-adjusted dogs they are capable of becoming. These girls would thrive in quiet homes that will respect their space but would ideally love the companionship of another dog to help guide them!

Please join us in welcoming out newest FIV+ resident to the cat center. Raven is super sweet and very playful. Despite being very young herself, she has raised a large number of kittens. Now she is ready to be done with that life and experience being a kitten herself. If you are looking for a cat who is full of personality and enjoys life to the fullest, please consider Raven.

If there is one thing that this sweet girl brings to the world, it's Joy! At just 12 weeks, this Boxer mix is just filled with potential. Joy hopes to find her new family in time for the new year. She is getting practice in foster care and is learning how to meet new dogs and even has cat experience!

We would love to see Joy go to an active home that will provide her with lots of exercise and stimulation. She currently weighs about 15 lbs. but is expected to be between 50-75 lbs. once she is fully grown.
