Just want to take a minute to reflect on what all we’ve had going on these past few weeks - it’s been a blur but amazing progress thanks to all of the support from our customers, partners, friends, and family!
First - We built a walk in Cooler! This is going to be a game changer! When Breitingers Flowers was closing up shop a few years ago we were fortunate enough to purchase one of their walk ins. It took a looming delivery of dozens of crates of Chambersburg Peaches and Nectarines in partnership with @festa.family.farms to get our butts in gear to build it - and with the help of Kevs Dad we got it done in the nick of time! We had been using a commercial 3 door cooler, and a combination of our big white chest coolers and ice packs for a while, but finally we now have a proper full space to keep all our produce nice and cold. Using a Coolbot and window AC unit for control.
2. We practically SOLD OUT at both the Renzie Market and the Plum Street Market. At both events we brought a TON of our produce and you all blew us away at coming out and clearing the tables!
3. We helped feed so many families through the partnership with the Community Foundation of Westmoreland County and Adagio Health - where they held a pop up mobile farm market for those who need it! We were able to provide a variety of 24 different crops and many bushels worth to the market!
4. This weekend we flipped over 20 farm garden beds, planting out a lot more summer crops (beans, squash, cucumbers, lettuce, green onions) and getting a bunch more ready for fall plantings.
5. The Farm Stand has been a huge hit - we love that our customers can shop us anytime! We appreciate each and every one of you that stops by, and we always try to keep it stocked up.
7. Despite being so busy, we’ve managed to take a few much needed breaks to visit our favorite places, see some shows, get out in nature, and just take a breath here and there!
Next place to find us is at the farm stand all this w
Here’s a quick video showing how we “lean and lower” our tomato plants in the tunnels. These Qlipr trellises have been very nice so far! Saves a lot of reaching and maneuvering of the plants.
If we’re lucky we will end up with 30+ long tomato vines by the end of the season. And the added benefit of these trellises is all we have to do is unclip them and then pull the whole plant into the compost pile (no messing with twine / tomato string).
Happy Thursday!
