The Carroll County Humane Society is a no-kill animal shelter in McKenzie, Tennessee with no-kill being defined as not euthanizing for time or space. This means no animal is euthanized because they have been at the shelter too long or to make room for another animal waiting to come in. If there is a need to euthanize, it is on a case by case basis relating to health and temper. We are a 501(c)(3)

non-profit organization, with funding coming entirely from private contributions, bequeaths, fundraising and grants.

Christmas happy #3...

A few years ago we set about making some major improvements to the shelter. They're esthetically pleasing, but were done for safety and health in mind. We got new dog kennels, reconfigured and buried new fencing, and sealed our floors. We raised some money, used a small portion from our savings, and borrowed a bit.

As of Monday we are paid off!! Sure, we will still have our monthly vet expenses, food and supplies, payroll, utilities...but no debt!! This means so much to us to not have to worry about owing anything. We are so grateful.

Male American English Coonhound, similar to a Blue Tick, but with a browner head, weighing around 85 pounds. He is an extremely friendly family pet. He has an orange collar with our phone number, but he could have lost it. Missing from McKenzie near the areas of Shiloh Church on Hwy. 423, Holly Hills Subdivision or Clear Lake Road. He has the ability to cover great distances.

UPDATE 12/24: this sweet boys 10 day hold is over so he’s now available for rescue, foster or adopter. He’s only around a year old and a big boy….maybe 70-80 when he gets some meat on his bones. A lot of lab, but maybe something bigger/taller, like Dane? Just a guess. He wanted to play with another dog he met this morning so pretty sure he’s dog friendly!! No idea on kitties.

He’s super sad at the pound and loves being your shadow!! Very much a people pleaser. He’d be a great couch potato and running partner!!
