This is a courtesy post for Madison and Bear. Bear is in need of a new home and this is what his foster, Madison has to say about him.
This handsome boy is Bear. He is a 1 year old unaltered male - German shepherd and Rottweiler mix. He is a rescue, and is currently living with a foster family. He is about 120 pounds. Bear LOVES people. He wants to be best friends with everyone he meets. He has also been around children ages 4-16, and does great. He is friendly towards dogs, but can be overwhelming to some due to his size. He has been around cats and doesn’t seem to pay them any mind. But sometimes wants to offer a playful “bop”, so he should be supervised around cats or small dogs. Bear has not been socialized much outside of his normal circle, and can easily be frightened by new things. He knows his name, and knows “sit”, but isn’t command trained otherwise. He is very eager to learn and he loves treats! He needs a family who has a lot of time, patience, understanding, and love.
Please contact Madison at 707-498-0422 if you are interested in learning more about Bear.

Just having some fun in the sun with Oakley and his new favorite trick, backwards circles. Next goal...backwards figure 8s.
Super proud of Oakley! We have been working a lot of choice and control games lately and it has paid off. He used to break position when a toy or food was tossed. Now, he waits to be released and has become more interested in working for tug than ever.
I have been working with Oakley on having him do a backwards circle around me for our next Tiktok dance routine. Today he got it! We need to shape it some more so he is not hopping on his butt, however, I find his butt hopping to be rather amusing.
Our local shelter is bursting at the seams with adoptable animals. Here are a few of the wonderful dogs I met over the weekend.
Please contact the Humboldt County Animal Shelter at 707-840-9132 to arrange to meet and adopt one of the amazing dogs, cats, bunnies, rooster, or rats that are looking for a forever home.
Present Time
Happy Holidays!
Santa Paws paid Oakley a visit. Seems he was a very good boy this year.
That's one way to file those nails
Oakley learned to back up his ramp today. Figured he needed something new to learn and it helped to smooth out his nails after his trim earlier.
It's been a while since we've rolled the Jolly Ball.
Oakley is still looking for his forever home. He has come so far, learned so much, and even has some circus stunts underway.
Wishing everyone a safe and happy 4th

Abandoned Dogs in Loleta
While I cannot bring in another dog until Oakley finds a home or another rescue or sanctuary, I still do my best to help get homeless dogs off the street and into safety. Today I tried to help animal control get the last 3 of the pups abandoned in Loleta. Didn't catch them but made good strides and was able to hand feed one while the other sniffed. The third kept its distance and only approached occasionally. All three are hungry, tired, and limping. I'm sure they have sore paws and possibly thorns from all the berry bushes they have been trampling through. I will continue to try until they are safe.
