Our sweetest boy Cabo is very much in need of a foster or adopter! He is currently staying in one of our emergency garage kennels. Cabo would very much like to be inside a home instead! He is easy going, loves to supervise yard work, and will self entertain with toys if you’re busy. He rides incredibly well in the car and has shown to have wonderful house manners. Cabo is around 7 years old and weighs 70 pounds.

Redwood Pals Rescue sends a huge THANK YOU! to the wonderful students of the Hydesville Leadership Team. These amazing students held a bake sale and raised over $1100 for Redwood Pals! Mara and RPR rescue Francesca got to visit with them on a recent afternoon. The kids gave Frannie some treats, asked great questions about rescue and dog training, and were amused by Frannie's climb to the piano keyboard!

Over the last two weeks, Redwood Pals has taken on 13 puppies. In addition to receiving puppy vaccinations and wormer from us, two of the younger pups have already been seen by the vets for different things. One of the puppies was diagnosed with Strangles, also known as juvenile cellulitis, a hereditary autoimmune condition. Fortunately our alert fosters were right on it and we were quickly able to start treatment. Pup is already well on the way to recovery. Another had some mysterious discomfort that left him loudly crying in the middle of the night. Serious conditions were ruled out and he was treated for a possible allergic reaction. As you can imagine, there is some expense involved. We also had three spays - Midnight and Sweet Pea, plus a repeat mama from the unhoused community - and a neuter over the same week. We are committed to providing the best care for all the dogs and puppies in our care, and to reducing dog overpopulation. We could really use your financial help! There is a "Donate" button at the top of this page that makes it really easy!

Remember also that Co-op members can vote for Redwood Pals Rescue to be a recipient of next year's Seeds of Change, the register round-up. You can vote on paper at either the Arcata or Eureka store or online at https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=AscKgErYOkGll2k7kjyCsb_9SYt2qEFAmdOjN3rqhntURURDVVNWT0Q2QUxKSU83WDRERTJOMTlHOS4u

Have a little free time Thursday November 14th? Stop on by Dead Reckoning in Arcata! The proceeds we receive will go towards spays and neuters for dogs in our community. Dead Reckoning has 36 rotating taps to choose from!

Voting starts today for us to be part of the 2025 Seeds for Change at the North Coast Co-op! Members can vote at the stores or online. Mara will be at the Arcata Co-op from 11-12:30 today if you have any questions.

Funds will be used to provide spays and neuters for dogs in our community that wouldn't be able to get them otherwise - homeless and low-income. This reduces the amount of stray dogs and unwanted puppies in the community. We are sure everyone has noticed the vast number of abandoned puppies and adult dogs lately. Funds will also be used to vaccinate puppies/dogs which reduces the risk of illness to all pets in our community.

We just took in two different litters of puppies! A litter of four and a litter of 10. Please help us in our mission to spay and neuter!!!

Co-op members! Here is a chance to help out Redwood Pals Rescue. Voting begins on Monday, November 4, for the groups that will be included in Seeds of Change (aka "the round-up") for 2025. Redwood Pals Rescue is one of the applicants on the ballot. If we get enough votes, we will have one month of promotion at the checkstands. This has been yielding between $7000 and $10,000 for the featured groups! You can vote in the stores or online. We will post the online option Monday morning. You need to be a current Co-op member to vote. Thank you!!!

Hi my Name is Dax. I'm a medium sized Dutch shepherd dog, about 55 lbs. My favorite things are chasing balls and playing tug and going for walks and couch snuggles. I am really interested in smells and love to go on adventures. I like to travel, and I can ride inside with people or in pickups if they are covered or have a crate for me. I have lots of friends - people and dogs both. I enjoy a good run every now and then, but I also like taking naps. Sometimes I am shy with strangers, but everyone I meet now is so nice and friendly, I am getting to actually enjoy it. Especially when they give me treats! I'm super smart and kind of sensitive, so I learn best with positive reinforcement and I just have a blast learning new things! I know how to sit, and lay down, I'm doing super well walking nice on a leash and coming when I'm called and I'm starting to learn some tricks like nose touches, paw touches, and spins. I'm interested in Rally and agility, but I haven't tried yet.
Please contact my friends at Redwood Pals if you’d like to meet me! It’s been fun staying with my fosters, but I’m ready for my forever home now.

Cabo has had such fun in his foster home, but they are going out of town in a week. Can you be his new foster home? Or even better, would you like to meet Cabo for possible adoption? Cabo loves everyone he meets and will bring bundles of love and laughter to the home that will have him. He's waiting for you now!

Our boy Cabo has been in a foster home for about a month and now he is ready to find his forever home! Cabo has shown himself to be quite the charmer! This affectionate fellow has made friends with everyone he has met. His foster mom says he is always ready to lean in for a hug if she holds her arms out. He likes to lounge on his bed and play with his toys, but really loves to snuggle on the human’s bed for a nap. She reports he’s a good sleeper! Cabo has a special fondness for riding in the car. He sits nicely in the back seat as though he is being chauffeured. He is patient with stops for errands and does not rush out the door when arriving at his destination. Cabo enjoys the car so much he has been known to go in the garage and nap in the back seat! Cabo is not a barker; he hasn’t barked at neighbors, cats or cars, and has only let out a bark or two when he’s heard something rustling at night.
When Cabo was at the shelter, he was a favorite with the newer volunteers, thanks to his easy-going nature. It’s hard to resist how Cabo makes you feel. You can’t stay sad or lonely for long in his presence! If you’ve been looking for a mature, friendly companion to share time at home, car trips, or hikes in the forest, Cabo is the dog for you! Please contact us at [email protected] or leave a voicemail at (707) 633-8842. Cabo is about seven years old, neutered, microchipped and current on vaccinations. Redwood Pals Rescue offers a visit with our trainer to help ensure a successful transition to a new home and Cabo’s current foster has offered to cover his adoption fee. Give us a call today!

Midnight is the perfect model for our post today! Midnight enjoys lounging in her crate through out the day and does great in it while her fosters are away from home.

We have found ourselves low on crates and are seeking donations of large and extra large wire crates. We are able to pick them up and also have a drop off location. Reach out to us if you have a spare one around, thank you!

Midnight is having so much fun in foster and is learning many new things! Her foster says “Midnight came with me to sweep up the skate park today and was showing off her parkour skills. She uses the ramps in my backyard for zoomies but I have never seen her in action on big ramps. She’s got a whole fan club at this point. I’m not sure who my friends are coming over to hang out with, me or her 😂”
