Hi, I’m Asphalt!

I’m a 5-month-old bundle of cuddles, playfulness, and endless conversation. While I’m happy watching my roommates find their forever homes, I’m still patiently waiting for mine. I dream of curling up in a warm lap, bringing joy to my new family, and celebrating the holidays surrounded by love.

We’ve had a whirlwind kitten season. Things are finally slowing down a bit and we have a soooo much to be grateful for. Life is freaking hard. But We choose to do our part in helping as many animals as we can. And unfortunately we have to turn away more animals than we can take….I think a lot of times people don’t realize what it takes to do what we do. The blood sweat and tears we’ve all shed. The nights we’ve spent trying to save an animal to only watch it take its last breath. To once again asking your kids to dig a hole to bury another animal we couldn’t save. This job never has a clock out time. It’s 24 hours a day. It’s missing vacations to care for someone else’s “problem”. It’s going in on holidays to scoop litter pans. It’s having a crabby person tell you that you are doing a horrible job. A lot of time we have people complain that we ask for an adoption fee. Like thats why we do this…..I can assure we don’t. After totaling up the cost to keep our rescue going this last year between rent, utilities paying only one full time staff member, insurance and veterinary care for animals our little store here in McKinleyville Ca is what has kept this rescue going. After figuring out expenses we’ve donated over $48,000 just this year to make this happen. And we can only do that by the support we receive by all of our amazing customers that have believed in us and shop with us. One day we hope this rescue will receive enough grants and donations to sustain itself. We’ve got big hearts with big dreams!!! We adore every sweet family that has helped us make this happen. Soooo many happy tears these last few weeks. Thank you for all of your support and let’s see what we can make happen in 2025. ❤️❤️❤️

Ohhh sweet Billy Jean. This gal has been with us a while. She is an awesome running partner. She is loyal to her people. Gets along with most other dogs that aren’t dominate. Being a Shepard once she feels at home she will protect her home. She isn’t a dog you have random people show up at your house without proper introduction. We feel she would do best in a home with one or two people. That understand her need to protect her people. This dog is SMART! With the proper training I believe she can do almost anything you ask of her. ❤️❤️❤️

Meet Coco. This sweet boy is somewhere between 13-16 yrs old. His Dad is currently dealing with his own health issues and can no longer care for him. He still has plenty of s***k and life left in him. He is looking for someone to spend the last few years of his life with. He gets along with everyone including other pets. Luna is a sweet and loving 3-year-old female Chihuahua-Terrier mix looking for her forever home. She adores both people and other dogs, though she can be a little shy at first. Once she warms up, Luna is an absolute love bug who will melt your heart. She's great on a leash and loves going for walks. Luna is spayed and fully vaccinated.
