Something about a polydactyl kitty that just makes them so fun. This little one came home with me this last week because she was showing severe symptoms of failure to thrive. She had no appetite and was becoming dehydrated. I syringe fed her for about 5 days and she finally turned the corner!!! Today she is eating on her own.❤️❤️❤️NORCALPETRESCUE.

It breaks my heart to write this post—one I truly believed was still years away. But life, in all its beauty and unpredictability, has once again reminded me how fragile and fleeting time can be. Yesterday we said goodbye to our best friend, our beloved store mascot, and the soul of our shop—Scarface.

Scarface wasn’t just a cat. He was our cat. He was your cat. He belonged to everyone who ever walked through our doors. Whether you came in for supplies, support, or just to say hi, chances are you were greeted by his steady, confident presence—probably from the checkout counter, where he unapologetically claimed his throne.

He was a one-of-a-kind soul. Full of mischief and heart, Scarface had a personality larger than life. He was the only cat I’ve known who would play fetch for hours, shake and sit for treats like a dog, and greet customers with the calm confidence of someone who knew he ran the place—because he did.

Scarface helped raise hundreds of rescue kittens over the years. He’d let them nurse on him, clean them like a doting parent, and gently corral them when they got a little too curious. He was patient, loving, and endlessly giving. A mentor, a nanny, and a friend to all. He was unbothered by dogs, unafraid of anything, and absolutely irreplaceable.

We are devastated. There’s no other word for it. Our hearts are shattered, and the store feels impossibly quiet without him. The counter is too clean. The air feels heavier. But even through the tears, we know how lucky we were to have shared life with him—and how lucky he made every customer, every kitten, and every one of us feel just by being who he was.

Scarface, thank you for everything. You were the best damn cat any of us ever knew. Just know you are deeply loved and terribly missed.

We have some super big expansions we are making!!! We’ve opened up our new reptile room and are now working on opening up Animal boarding. With expansion comes the need to add another full time employee. This position requires previous work in a Pet Store, Rescue, veterinary field, Boarding ext. Must be reliable, honest, able to work with public and fellow employees. We are a super busy store and this means you will be on your feet all day. Must be able to lift 40lbs and be able to keep yourself busy. We are accepting resumes at 1580 Nursery Road Suite F. Hi everyone! We are looking for a forever home for our foster dog, Hari. She came from a family that was in a sticky situation and she was headed to the shelter. We have had Hari for about 2 weeks and are getting to know her a bit more. She is about 35 lbs, four years old, and spayed. Hari is good and playful with other dogs and gets along with our cat. She rides well in the car, listens off-leash, and generally wants to please. Hari is super smart and is medium energy level, she is good sleeping by my feet while I work during the day or running on the trails with her friends. Everyday I have people coming in asking if we have any adoptable dogs. Currently we don’t. Not for the lack of dogs needing help. We have the space. We have the heart, compassion , time, kick ass employees, and love to do this. We just need the financial part. Last year alone our business NOR CAL PET donated over $60,000 to run our rescue. We receive around $9000 in local grants. We just need a grant writer to help us continue doing the work we do. Please if you know someone who does send them our way. Pictures are of “Peanut”. This sweet boy was kept in a hoard of over 70 dogs. Locked in filthy cages. No food. No water. He was completely shut down for months after we took him in. Wouldn’t jump or play. Never barked.
