🚫🐾Keeping our pets safe starts with prevention! Here are some important ways to protect your furry friends from accidental poisoning:

🔹 Store Household Chemicals Safely – Keep cleaning supplies, pesticides, and medications out of reach.
🔹 Avoid Toxic Foods – Chocolate, grapes, onions, xylitol (found in sugar-free gum), and alcohol can be harmful to pets.
🔹 Be Cautious with Plants – Many common plants like lilies, sago palms, and tulips can be toxic to pets.
🔹 Properly Store Pet Medications – Only give medications prescribed by your vet and keep them securely stored.
🔹 Secure Trash & Purses – Keep trash cans covered and bags out of reach to prevent pets from ingesting harmful substances.
🔹 Use Pet-Safe Pest Control – Avoid rodenticides and insecticides that can be dangerous to pets.

Staff and volunteers of The Colony Animal Services honor the memory of McKinney PD K9 Officer Azi. Azi, a true hero, made the ultimate sacrifice on Thursday at 3pm, while McKinney SWAT bravely attempted to apprehend a gunman who had already shot and injured a woman. He began firing at police, claiming the life of K9 Officer Azi. The suspect was later shot by police and did not survive his injuries. Our hearts overflow with love and support for Officer Azi’s handler and family. Our thoughts extend to the McKinney Police Department and all officers involved, celebrating their selfless dedication. R.I.P. K9 Officer Azi. Your courageous watch is complete!
