Apple Acre Gypsy

Apple Acre Gypsy Our approach is to remain small and focused. Our choice is to not simply breed our girls, but breed Though these are U.S. history, lifestyle, faires, ideals).

As I have said on Proper Cobs in the US, I say here:

I believe in - A Reservoir of Established & Educated U.S. breeders dedicated to preserving the Gypsy Cob/Horse/Tinker/Vanner in its pure form and traditional standards. These are breeders active in a registry(ies), associations that educate the public, shows/expos/faires here or in the U.K., and/or have established breeding lineage here in the

United States. Yes, some of these horses will of course be imports, however the progeny and on-going breeding is here within the United States. Their horses can/should be judged as, against and classed as "Proper Cobs" and we keep in mind that no horse is *perfect*, however there are standards being upheld and change in the style of the breed is not advocated. These are also breeders that believe in respect to and education from the original breeders abroad who began and still today uphold the foundation of this breed. based, we do advocate keeping in touch with and learning from foundation breeders in the U.K. and Ireland and understanding the environment from which these unique horses sprang (i.e. This is a difficult thing to discern, but it is endeavored to create a bond here on Facebook of U.S. breeders with full respect to Gypsy family breeders abroad who sometimes know this breed better than a lot of us. There is no arrogance here, only on-going learning and education to establish a Proper Cob home base here in the U.S. Baxtalo Drom to you all in your breeding! Our choice is to not simply breed Sorcha, but breed well and wanted! Though Sorcha, herself, is imported, there are now plenty of stateside bred Gypsy Cobs out there looking for homes and we simply do not want to add another. We are looking for you as much as you are looking for us! We strive to carry on a tradition begun by the Gypsies and Travellers hundreds of years ago across the “sea”, with much respect to the culture that brought us this wonderful breed. Though we now find ourselves promoting our new American fondness for the Gypsy breed and all its monikers (Cob, Vanner, Tinker), we travel to Appleby yearly to visit with our Gypsy friends and breeders, experience and remember the roots of our passion and love for theses horses and keep in touch with the heart of what it truly means to possess "Gypsy Gold".
