A Message from Dr. Sexton: Retirement Announcement
After 46 years of practicing veterinary medicine, I am writing to share that I will be retiring from my role as a veterinarian at McLean Animal Hospital. This decision comes after much thought and reflection, and while I’ve always believed that my work speaks for itself, I want to acknowledge the wonderful relationships I’ve built with my patients, clients, and colleagues over the years.
My journey in veterinary medicine began in 1978, and in 1979, I was fortunate to join the team at McLean Animal Hospital, working alongside Charlie Patton. In 1993, myself and Dr. Steve Stork became the proud owners of the hospital and had the privilege of serving our community through this role for 27 years. During this time, I’ve witnessed countless milestones in the lives of pets and families, and I’ve been honored to be part of their stories.
As is often the case with a profession I’ve loved for so long, it is not an easy decision to step away. However, after much consideration, I feel it is time to pass the torch to a new generation of veterinary professionals. It has been an incredibly rewarding career, and I am grateful for all the trust and support that my clients have shown me over the years. I would like to thank every pet owner who has entrusted me with the care of their beloved animals, and I am proud to have played a part in keeping them happy and healthy.
While I appreciate all the well wishes and words of kindness, I would like to avoid any “hoopla” or large celebrations around my retirement. It has always been my goal to serve the animals and people in our community with humility and dedication, and I prefer to quietly transition into this new chapter. However, I wanted to make sure that all of my clients know that I will be stepping away from the practice, and I trust that they will be in excellent hands with the team here at McLean Animal Hospital.
Thank you all for the incredible memories and the honor of caring for your pets. I will cherish them forever.
Sincerely,
Jack Sexton, DVM
